Trying to keep my head above water.

Hi .

I'm new here.

I am 48 and was diagnosed Aspergers 5 years ago. 2 children, a 16 year old boy also Aspergers and a 9 year old girl with severe autism, Global development delay and ADHD.

5 years ago my marriage broke down and have been a single mum since. I'm just trying to keep my head above water .

Suffering with extreme depression is the hardest thing to do . I'm trying out Mirtazepine after my meds had stopped working after 15 years (Cirtalopram).

And now... Covid-19🙄

Hello & Welcome :-)

You are coping with so much already there is no wonder you are feeling depressed and anxious but hopefully those meds will kick in soon :-)

I know for some with Autism the world can seem overwhelming just when it is normal so throw COVID19 into the mix is just going to make it feel 10 times worse

Know how you are feeling with all you are coping with is normal , that hopefully those meds will help and that you now have somewhere to come and talk where even if we don't have all the answers we do understand and we do listen and care :-)

Take a day at a time , you are doing a great job even if you don't feel you are at the moment :-)

Take Care x

Thank you so much for your reply. I was reading up about my new meds when I came across this site by accident.

Maybe this has come at the right time for me.

I'm getting terrible side effects like vertigo and sleepiness with these new meds on day 9 of Mertazipine. Managed to finally speak to my doctor today who has advised me to reduce my dose from today.

I'm hoping it will help.

Hello :-)

Sorry to hear you are getting such bad side effects , sometimes the dose can be to high before our bodies adjust to them so sounds like the lower dose will be better and maybe at a later time they may increase them , just see how they help

Most meds will have some side effects when you first start them , so do not be afraid if you do get some as long as they are manageable then give it a few months and hopefully the side effects will settle down and you will get the benefits from the meds instead :-) x
