Skyrocketed heart laying down
Have you ever spoken to your doctor about giving you benzo diazepines for bed. Bed time is when my heart rate shoots up. If I take a Diazipam , my heart goes straight back down to 60bpm.
No I am only taking beta blocker before bed ( metoprolol ) .... do you know why this happens though ?? I just don’t understand why laying in bed this is happening.... and why would it shoot up from 90 to 155 so quickly
I can’t answer why bed time is the worst , I am sure there is many people on here that can say the same thing happening to them as well as myself . When it happens to me, I put it down to the fact that somewhere in my brain is uneasy about going to bed , even if I feel relaxed . Also I tend to feel my heart beat laying down, especially if it is quiet . You need to speak with your doctor, tell him what’s going on, that you need help relaxing before bed, that the beta blockers are good at time’s ,but going to bed is still a nightmare . Tell him your bpm when you lay down , tell him you’ve tried all sorts of calming techniques and they don’t work. Tell him you need to have something that will make you really relaxed before sleep. Say it’s ruining your life. Diazepam is very relaxing , and a god send for people like us .
You nailed that comment right on the head Ryan. It's not so much about
lying down at night causing the fast h/r but what she is thinking when lying
down. Many people have heightened anxiety before bedtime. As long as the
mind is going 100mph, the heart rate is keeping up with the pace.
Using the time before you go to bed to settle down will help immensely.
That means no cell phone, no caffeine and finding some quiet relaxing meditation
to listen to will help bring that heart rate down. Simple tool is using diaphragmatic
breathing. Inhaling in slowly and exhaling even slower will slow down the heart, the
mind and the body. There is a lot of truth to the Mind/Body Connection. You can
find that on YouTube which will explain in depth "What you think is what you get".
Wishing you Peace. xx
I totally agree with you , problem is , for myself , no matter how hard I have tried meditating , I stopped caffeine years ago , it just doesn’t work for me. For some reason , the more quiet my room is before bed and in bed, the worse I get. I can’t even sleep without my lamp on. It’s not that I am afraid of the dark, it’s more the fact I get worse symptoms With it off. The mind is such a complicated tool. I do deff agree for people to try your techniques tho, because it works for so many people. Unfortunately i am a small few that it don’t work for . I even listen to 528Hz , I do think that helps me tho while falling asleep
Oh yes I will be sure telling him all of this when I go next week. I am having an echocardiogram done ... I do take Xanax through the day , maybe I need to start taking a Xanax along with the beta blocker before bed !!!
You got Xanax ? Oh well you got the right thing then. I’d rather sacrifice one of my Xanax in the day, to have half hour before bed. Or Even better have both . Just make sure you aren’t building up a tolerance to them, and if you think you are, try go 2 days without one , even if it’s the worst 2 day’s ever, because when you start taking them again , they become more potent again. I always take small tolerance breaks , because I find the med starts to stop working, so take a couple days off from it, then start again , and I feel I can go another month or 2 of it working better
Ahhh yes I do haha Xanax. Been on Xanax for years , and you are right about the tolerance my doc just upped my dose to .5 mg Xanax now , I was taking .25mg .... BUT that being siad the .5 mg isn’t really touching my panic anymore and it takes a good hour for it to kick in !!!!!! I still take it during day because of the side effects of not being ok them , and I like to think it’s helps a little being on them still .... I either need to go to a higher dose or switch to a different one ... but that I want to be able to see a psychiatrist for , not just my primary doc .
To be honest you sound like you could do with a nice 2mg hit before bed . When I fly back and forth from the uk to USA, I need a minimum of 2mg to see me through the flight . Even then I start getting tense 5 hours into the flight . Hope all goes ok for you. You sound like you have decent Drs ect . Most doctors frown and judge at giving out Xanax, sounds like your being treated properly
Well all those examation marks!!! Says it ALL!!!
