Hey new here still! Just needing some help/ support or maybe someone with similar experience. I had a bad flare up of something due to autoimmune in January that supposedly caused a thyroid storm. I say supposedly because test are still pending. Long story short it was traumatizing and really triggered my anxiety and panic attacks horribly. I realized other than my husband and kids I had only but two other people that could barely check on me or help. So since all this we have decided to move back to where all our family lives. Which is 3.5-4 hours away. No set date on moving but I’m still a little scared I won’t be able to make the trip with the anxiety and panic attacks. So anyone who might have some encouraging story or advice I appreciate it.
Will I be able to move: Hey new here still... - Anxiety Support
Will I be able to move
Aj8233, keep your eye on the prize. At the end of the trip you will have
family around once again to help as well as check on you. The assurance
that will give you is worth the trip.
I have Fibromyalgia which is an autoimmune disorder causing stiffness and
pain when sitting too long. Pain can cause anxiety and anxiety can trigger
panic attacks. What I would suggest is to bring down your stress level by
listening (with headphones) to a relaxation meditation while in the car. Also
stopping to stretch your legs and walk around for a bit. The movement of your
legs will help lower the adrenaline and make you feel more comfortable.
Divide the trip up into beginning/middle and getting to destination. It helps
rather than one long drawn out event not knowing how much longer.
I do this when going to the dentist or having a procedure done. It helps immensely
in bringing down any fears. Let us know when you will be traveling. You can connect
with us and we can help talk you through the trip. It's going to be okay. You can do it. xx
P.S. Don't forget to bring a bottle of water with to hydrate.
I too have had anxiety, I purchased a book by “Steadmans” it has helped me so much to understand why, good luck with your move x
Pjkvrk65, I hadn't heard of that book but I will be taking a look at it.
I'm happy it has worked for you, after all that is what counts in the long run.
That's what I like about this site, we share our experiences in how we deal
with anxiety. In doing so, we help each other. Wishing you well xx
Thank you Agora1 I’ve been overthinking going and it’s not even time yet. Still got a lot of packing to do but I’m going to just keep thinking of the positives as you said and just remember all that good things like getting to hug my dad and my grandma and my sister and nieces and nephews and all the people I love and have been away from for years! I will definitely let you know the day so I can have support! Thank you so much for the kind words and support
