Mirtazapine & sedation

Hi, I’ve been taking Mirtazapine for anxiety for 18 days, I nearly decided to quit yesterday as sedation was incredible, I’d take the pill at 9pm and get up at 11am and feel sedated for a good few hours after I woke. Well today I woke up at 2am fell back to sleep woke up again then actually got up at 6:15am and had breakfast and I’m still awake enough to type this post this, I can’t quite believe it as I’ve been unable to get out of bed for over 2 weeks and it’s suddenly stopped! Weird!

All the best & good luck

Hello :-)

Sometimes to start with these medications can make us feel like we are sedated while our bodies are adjusting to them

Well done hanging in there as now it seems you will start to benefit from them as your body has or is getting more used to them :-)

Hope it long continues :-)

Take Care x

Hi I did end up nodding back off, but don’t feel at a loss like I did these past mornings

Yes, this happened to me with Mirt too, not for so many days but on day 1 and 2 I think I didn't even get outh of bed and then it slowly improved. I now lead a normal life but because I'm on a low dose it's still sedating. I have never slept this well in my whole life. I sleep a solid 8 hours every night, when my average used to be about 3. Higher doses apparently are less sedating.

I asked the Dr about higher doses being sedating, he said probably not!

That stuff is crazy. I am only taking 7.5 mg...sometimes I sleep, sometimes, not. Feel high as a kite some days, pins and needles feelings other days, blurred vision, don't feel like doing anything, weight gain, and all around crazy some days. I have been on it for 4 months. I am going to get off of it. 15 mg was zombie girl for a week. Cant work and do that. Over it basically. Hope it works for you.

The stuff become poison to me . Started off like you , the zombie thing. Then my health deteriorated , even made my cholesterol bad . Got off that poison
