So I’ve been on mirtazapine for about 6 months. Not the greatest subject to talk about but Since taking these I feel like I’m getting more and more constipated. I do go to the toilet but it’s really hard and I never feel like I’ve “emptied my bowels” properly. Also I’m so much more windy!!! I can hear the air bubbling through my guts errr!
I’ve upped my fibre intake, eating prunes every morning with my fruit and fibre cereal and drinking more.
Being honest I do have health anxiety as well and I’m getting worried about having bowel cancer 😩
Any one on mirtazapine experiences this?

hi sorry about your experiences ive been on them many years cant sy ive experienced this maybe its your diet but I wouldn't know for sure maybe have a word with your doctor.
Hi , ive been on Mirtazapine for a number of years now, and I do get constipated. I am on quite a lot of medication so I don't know what is causing what. My Doctor gave me Laxidido to take twice a day in Water, but I keep forgetting to take it .
Being Constipated makes you feel so bloated and uncomfortable.
I've been off of it for a month. Been very difficult withdrawals. Felt out of control at times. That has calmed down. First three weeks was to nauseous to eat so not constipated just bloated and nothing there to go with I suppose! I had a senna about a week ago, moved things along and I have to say things are much improved. Used to have to take mebervine 3 times a day. Now once maybe
I’m also considering stopping mirtazapine. I’ve gained a stone and a half in weight and being constipated as well is not a nice mix. I’m allergic to citalopram so scared to try something different to mirtazapine ☹️
I was on citalopram for 6 years and mirtazapine for 4. I gained 2 and a half 3 stone in the first year. The doctors say its just you're appetite increasing but it's got to be more than that. I think it's slows you down. Generally, including metabolism. I would investigate other medication. I've been medicated since I was 20 so I'd like to think I've grown up and maybe are a bit more stable now. I'm going it alone with no Ads just some Diaz to get me to sleep at night after being sedated for so long. I'm going to look in to herbal treatment etc. Might not work. But the weight gain has had a huge effect on my life. I really wish you well.
I agree with u over the weight gain being more than just an increase in appetite, I’m eating healthy and walking loads. I must admit though the evening munchies do have me me eating chocolate and biscuits and it’s harder than ever to resist but I still don’t think I’m eating enough to cause this weight gain, I’ve never suffered with weight before. Oh well I’ll just see how I go xxx
