Anxiety and trying to sleep!

Hey everyone.. I’m really struggling tonight. I’ve been so good all day I thought I was getting better... no anxiety at all in the day and now I’ve been trying to go to sleep for about an hour and I keep getting woke up by a sense of fear. When I wake up I feel like my chest is tight and my body is going numb! I really don’t know what to do it is driving me crazy. All I want to do is sleep. I’m exhausted ☹️

This happens to me a lot. I’m not sure if you’d drink caffeine but I’ve noticed it’s worse when I overdo it. For now try some deep breathing and a distraction liking reading a book or magazine. I know how scary this particular anxiety is. I really hope you get some sleep tonight. Maybe ask your doctor for something to help you for instant relief. Take care.

Thank you for your reply! Literally last night was the worst for me, I’ve only recently just started suffering from anxiety/panic so it’s all new to me so any little thing that happens now triggers serious panic!! I’ve been to the doctors this morning and they prescribed me propranolol but I’m not sure whether to take them or not....

Oh my goodness I’m in exactly the same boat as you. I have been suffering huge panic attacks and anxiety since January and they’re extremely scary (if you read my posts you can probably relate). I’ve been prescribed something different to try and this is just my second week on it so I’ll let you know how that works if you’re interested. I find the smallest of things sets me off my best has been so very tight since December to the point I really struggle thinking I can’t get a breath. I go dizzy, pins and needles, chest hurts, can’t move my feet, black out it’s so very traumatic and scary. I quickly get to the point in bed I can’t swallow then seem to go a big jolt as I feel like I’m being strangled and gasping for air. I’ve had some good replies to my posts so have a wee look at the advice I’ve had so far. Everyone here is so nice. Take baby steps it’s all we can do x

My pleasure. It’s going to help s lot just being able to connect with people going through the same sort of things as they are pretty scary and just plane old hard to cope with sometimes! Right now I say a phrase my best friend says to me when things get tough. Her mother who she loved dearly always used to say to her “think nice things” every time she was finding a situation hard. I now too always say that to myself. She also says to me to take baby steps and I think I this is really important. We put so much ch pressure in ourselves, especially when we are going through some things we don’t necessarily understand and get anxious wanting a quick fix. We will get there. We just have to allow ourselves to know we will get through each day, and we will do in small and positive steps. Just think, the view at the top of a mountain is always amazing, but it can be a hard treck to get to the top. Always worth it in the end x

Hi, call me Dee. Experienced that before and what I tried to get rid of my fear was to listen to a relaxing music like soft musics. It really helps a lot, u should try it. Just focus on being relax while listening to it and u will end up sleeping right away. Good luck and I hope you will get a good sleep tonight. God Bless.

Hi Dee, thank you for your reply. I tried the soft music last night but I couldn’t relax myself enough, it was awful. I ended up vomiting my panic got so bad. I’ve been to the doctors this morning they checked my heart, blood pressure which is all fine, I have a blood test in the morning. He also prescribed me with propranolol but I’m not sure it to take them or not?

Hi sis😉 been busy this month being a mom of three taking care of my kids. Flue season and allergies everywhere and all my kids had them , had been off to this website quite a while. Anyway, I hope evrything is doing ok with you. Remember where this thing coming from? It’s all in our mind. Try to make yourself busy and stop worrying too much. If your doctor gave you some medicine you have to take it but if there is any reaction stop taking them and let them know ASAP. Don’t forget to drink 8 glass of water daily. Hope you feel better and take care. GOD bless you.
