I’m kind of the same way. A few years ago I had a bad issue with medication and quit everything but I needed help. I looked and found equine therapy (and I was terrified of horses) and it was the best decision I’ve made in a long time. Something to think about.
I have been on Lexapro 3 times for extreme anxiety during very stressful times in my life, like while my son was stationed in Mosul, Iraq. I was able to come off of it very easily by simply tapering off of it. Your fear of that drug is very unwarranted. (I would advise against taking Cymbalta as it was extremely hard to come off of, but I did it.) If I was suffering from this issue again, I would not hesitate to take Lexapro until my life calmed down. It takes about 3 weeks for even Lexapro to take good effect, and my last period of taking it, I had to also have Xanax to help get me through those 3 weeks until it had taken hold. There are many medications available that can prevent the anxiety and stress that could easily spiral down to suicidal depression. You don't have to go through that, when there are so many medications available to help get you back into a stable life. Your fear of drugs may be feeding your anxiety issue. Please get help. You don't have to live that way.
