I take gabapentin, you might want to consider gabapentin, also lyrica can help with anxiety, both are non addictive, they are not beta blockers though

Yes I take atenolol it slows down your racing heart. Prior to taking it my average heart rate was 100 now it’s 75-80 great med.

I was prescribed lopressor 10 mg twice a day .... have not taken it yet ... does anyone know if beta blockers help at all for skipped heart beats : palpitations

They are more for presentation anxiety , would not recommend a med that slows the heart but it’s each to their own.

If you take a min to read about atenolol it’s used for many reasons one is blood pressure, anxiety. You sure should take a bata blocker if needed. It’s prescribed by a Dr, not an over the counter medication.

Hi Kate

I take 20-30mg of Celexa a day. It is a complete miracle drug for anxiety.

It took about 2-3 weeks to kick in then oh wow what a difference, a huge improvement on my outlook and thought clarity.

Hope this helps.

I take 25 MG of Metoprolol daily helps with the racing heart however, I still get anxiety episodes with high BP and heart rate. I don't think it helps that much for the anxiety but I do think it helps me get control of it better than ending up in the ER again..I may need to look into actual anxiey meds along with the beta blocker..

Hi, I also take propranolol 40mg a day for both heart palpitations and anxiety. No side effects, helps to slow the hear but less with anxiety.

I take 80mg of propranolol a day and can honestly say it's given me my life back, I couldn't even go out of my house . I started them may 2019 and have taken them ever since I've not had 1 anxiety or panic attack. The feeling of anxiety is still there in my mind but not the symptoms. It's stopped racing heart, palpitations, sweating and shaking. So glad my doctor put me on them x
