Has anyone tried a beta blocker? If so, how was it? I have 2,400 extra heart beats a day and my cardiologist wants me to try one out. I dont like pills but I might want to try this one.
Beta blockers?: Has anyone tried a beta... - Anxiety Support
Beta blockers?
I'm on a beta blocker. Been great ever since I got on it. No issues since I started. I didn't really notice any side effects...maybe a little more tired feeling the first week or so in it.
I don't like taking pills either, but I'm really glad I started the beta blocker.
I just started mine on saturday my heart rate resting was always 100 or over, so far dont notice any thing except maybe little sluggish and pulse has gone down.
Hi anxiouslady13, I agree with Doug 1847 that accepting my doctor's advise to be place on a beta blocker was the best decision for me. Feel so much better now that the focus on the heart is gone.
Good Luck in giving it a try. Your cardiologist know what is best for you. Let us know how you do xx
Thank you for responding everyone. I guess my concern is that my heart rate is usually between 60-85 and that seems normal so I don't want my rate to go down any lower because I'm terrified of fainting or being lightheaded. He wants to put me on beta blockers because I have extra heart beats. Everyone has extrabeats throughout the day usually 50-100 but the go unnoticed for the most part. I have on average 2,333 extra beats per-day, give or take a few, and it causes some really annoying palpitations all the time. I'm nervous but I also don't want to have these palpitations anymore.
I have postural tachycardia but a low resting heart rate. I was afraid a beta blocker would make it too low. I tried atenolol because it is available as a liquid suspension. It's called atenolol Ora plus. I take anywhere from 3-5 MG three times a day and it takes the edge off the postural tachycardia without dropping my resting heart rate too low. I've been on it for 5 years now. I have extra beats and it does help those too.
I take beta blockers 3 times a day. Propranolol. No regrets. Made me tired at the beginning and weird patterns in my vision at night but now no side effects. I think they are great and really helped me.
