How do you handle your depression?

Ive been dealing with my depression for a good amount of years now but it's still hard to handle. What do you do to cope and get your responsibilities done ? I work from home but that's not enough to pay the bills and I feel like my depression is holding me back from finding another job and having it become steady. I wouldn't want to take medication. Do you take anything natural that helps you ?

Hi lanio,

I’m new here and can see you’ve not yet had a response.

I suffer with low mood off and on. I’m not keen on medications either so the best advice I can offer for a natural remedy is exercise. When I’m exercising regularly and eating well, I’m truly at my happiest. I’m much better at being able to cope with stressful situations and anxiety doesn’t get a look in.

It can often be hard though to motivate yourself to get moving initially when you’re low so my advice would be to join a group (the C25K group here is wonderful) or if you have a good friend who you could buddy up with for exercise, it’ll really help getting you going :)

Good luck.

hi educate yourself on your illness point out the issues that drag you down step by step work on each issue at a time have good support around you as well.dont fight it live with it and things will improve.maybe a job out the home could give you a better outlook on life and make new friends.

Yes, that's what I've tried my best to do but sometimes educating myself isn't enough. Theres so much trial and error when it's comes to what works and what doesn't. And I'm currently applying to places. Hopefully I get hired somewhere soon !

Sorry to hear of the struggles that you have had with depression. Know that you are not alone. As Hidden said, exercise is one way to naturally improve mood. One way to help make sure that you get exercise is to have someone else to do it with you.

Other ways to help cope with depression may be journaling or speaking with a counselor from time to time. (Have you found it to be helpful in the past?)

Here are some additional ideas that may be helpful for you. Hope it helps! list.ly/list/2EUz-the-selfl...

Exercise is nice but I don't really have many people that live close to me who are willing to do that with me. But I try my best to do it alone

And I haven't journeled in so long that I forget to do that. And talking about it does help me but I'm not sure if I could afford an actual counselor

I will check the link out. Thank you
