Has anyone experienced a cold tingly sensation in patches on their face and scalp... almost like pins and needles? Comes and goes but had it every day for a week since a panic attack last week. Never experienced this before and it’s very unnerving and uncomfortable. Is it just anxiety symptoms and how long can it last? Should it settle down and go away on its own?

Cold tingly face
Hey Geo26. I have felt tingles or pins and needles randomly in my face, head, legs, and arms. I experienced them often when I was in a highly sensitized state. Yes, anxiety can definitely cause those sensations. Once I became less sensitized the sensations lessened, and eventually went away.
How do you become less sensitised? It’s bothering me a lot and even when I’m relaxed and not thinking about it the tingling cold numb sensation doesn’t go away... ☹️
It takes awhile. You have to practice accepting the sensations and not fighting them. Once you stop fearing them and focusing on them they will lessen and fade away
They seemed to disappear for a couple of weeks so I was so relieved but they have started back up again for no known reason... the original trigger is still on my mind a little but nothing to the extent it was so I'm puzzled as to why the cold tingling on my face and on my scalp has flared up again....??
Hello Geo! I am glad that they went away for awhile!! That is great! As for them coming back...anxiety has a way of doing that. I will be symptom free for long periods and then all of a sudden I start experiencing one of my physical sensations again. That is when you have to consciously practice acceptance again. See when we start paying attention to them again and questioning their reasoning they show up more and more. You can do this. It’s just a sensation. It isn’t good or bad, it’s just there.
My GP has suggested Propranalol for short terms fixes when symptoms flare up however I am very reluctant to take meds. Have you tried meds or do you find mind over matter works best? Is the tingling something you've experienced?
