First time posting here but I’ve enjoyed reading the posts so far.
I started suffering with anxiety a few years ago due to shift work. For the last year and a half it hasn’t been too bad.
That was until 6 days ago where I just couldn’t sleep from anxiety and ended up being awake for nearly 40 hours. I was prescribed Zopiclone which seems to be working ok.
My biggest concern is that my head feels so weird and is the main part of why I’m failing to fall asleep (before the Zopiclone). It’s a hard feeling to explain, but almost like a pressured feeling round the back of my head. Almost like a squeezing but not at the same time.
Has anybody else experienced this?

Hi C_2002, I so remember those days and nights in feeling that tightness and pressured
feeling around the base of my head. Sleep deprivation causes our muscles to not regenerate unless we go into a REM sleep. That in itself could have brought you to the
point you are at. It's basically coming from muscular contraction where the muscles
clamp down causing that distress. Hydrating as well as proper alignment when sitting
or standing can help relax the spasm.
Continued stress in our lives causes triggers that could also come from our neck and
shoulders producing referred pain to the head. Give yourself a chance on your medication.
It may help you get back into a regular sleep cycle. If not, let your doctor know since there
are other ways to address this problem with physical therapy. Good Luck my friend xx
It’s such an odd feeling. There’s no real ‘pain’ as such just a pressured feeling and it drives me nuts. The Zopiclone is the only way I can sleep currently. I’ve only used them for 5 days. I think I made the mistake of trying not to use it on the 3rd as my anxiety had gone and I felt relaxed. But this weird feeling was still there when I tried to get some sleep.
Then my hypochondriac mind starts wandering too. 🙄
What helped the tension and migraines? I have had pressure in the back of my CV was 24/7 with ear fullness and pulsatile tinnitus and faintness feeling waking me up in the middle of the night, and throughout the day and hard to fall asleep sometimes. Was yours like this?
I just take Paracetamol and, or ibuprofen. It doesn't really help unless it's just a small migraine type thing. When it lasts for hours, days I just keep taking them. I will go back to my doctor next time to get them to check my eyes and maybe consider a different medicine maybe. I have made sure I drink enough fluid each and eat a varied diet. I exercise by going out with the kids or cleaning the home.
