I don’t know what type of job is best for me that is slow and calm enough that won't get my anxiety all worked up. I have chronic anxiety and no matter what everything gives me anxiety and because of that I need a job that isn’t too fast paced but I will enjoy and won’t get my anxiety all escalated especially if I’m stressed; even though I’m on antidepressants and anti anxiety medication. I want to work with kids but it gets me stressed a lot and right now I’m working as an after school program assistant for a middle school and have to be in charge of 40 5th graders and high school aides and I feel like it’s just not working ; because I’m a person that’s better at being given directions than giving directions and I feel like if I was given time and slowly started being given directions and being in charge it would be okay plus working only from 2:30 to 6:00 has been messing with my head and having to drive 20 min back and forth can be a lot especially if I’ve had a hard day. And having to be outside for two hours trying to get close to a 100 kids to the cafeteria on time so they’re parents don’t complain is exhausting especially in the heat. And my supervisor asked me how I felt and if she thought I could make it through the job and I said I don’t know but I’ll have to take I one day at a time but my gut is saying no. But, I’ll give it until next week when the aides come it’s jut hard because I have to remember 40 kids names to their faces plus another aides class which is another 20 or so; so that’s 60 kids and my brain doesn’t function well like that especially with my ADHD. But I felt like I was just thrown in the deep end. And I was previously working as an aide for 1st and 2nd graders with autism at one of the local elementary schools but it was so stressful my anxiety was through the roof and I couldn’t eat an kept getting physically sick. So, I don’t know if I should be working with kids at all or just specific jobs with kids where it’s working at a daycare at a fitness center or as an aide at a school helping a teacher. Or do I do something completely different like working in food services or as a caregiver. I just wan to know what to do.

ChristineJarvis, how about a nice quiet low keyed library job.

Just a thought :) xx

What would I need to do to get a job? I have a Bachelors Degree in Social Science?

Can do relate to what you are saying .. I have two work colleagues that left because of the stress and anxiety in the school job. My anxiety is through the roof too .. to much to noisy, fast and just stressful .. hard work for the ridiculous pay .. I’m desperate to get out .. I’m looking for jobs all the time .. I have a second job too which is slower paced .. but can not afford to give up the school .. I feel absolutely trapped and miserable there ! My health suffers, confidence shattered ! Staff are vile .. the only two I liked left due to stress .. unappreciated role .. sorry to be so negative .. but I loath the place ...
