Landlord issues

Sorry I know this is not particularly about this type of subject but I’m stressing out and need help, basically my landlord is totally unfair on me, never responding to my emails, texts, but reads and opens them, she messages back other tenants, she’s left us without gas for 3 days and 1 day without electric, she dosent take responsibly and treats me like crap basically, I’ve now caught a cold because we have had no heating and I can’t shower and it’s been like that for 3 days also struggling with headaches now which normally I can get a warm shower and it goes but I cant do that at the moment is there anywhere or anything I can do to take this further? Also she has gave me a section 21 notice because we don’t get on I know that’s the reason and she’s being petty but she won’t give me a answer why she’s giving me that

Because I have gotten a cold and feel ill now because of it and it’s horrible not being able to sleep and having headaches I know only 3 days without heat isn’t that good but I can’t shower, or anything

She said “the heat only went off today” to cover her own back as I recorded her when she topped the gas up after not having it for 3 days, I explained why would I feel the need to contact you 3 days ago if the gas only went off today? I also explained that the heat still isn’t on which she said the engineer fixed yesterday apparently, if it was fixed then it would be fixed which it isn’t , I’ve text her about 10 times today and also said I’ve felt ill, runny nose, cold/flu symptoms and she read and blanked, also emailed maintenance and the 2 landlords, they haven’t replied to me but they have replied to the other tenants in the property saying “it was fixed yesterday”

In the UK do not withhold your rent as that will go against you. They can then legally justify evicting you if you don't pay. You have to have by law at least 2 months to find somewhere else and if you haven't by then you can apply for an extension.

Seek advice. Look online too as there should be info there.

I said to them, I’ve been advised by 3 people 1 of which who knows the law and who I should go to and they said I’ve been wrongly advised which I’m not

Read the Landlord and Tenant Act (1985) and see what's in there. Last Christmas a friend had no heating or hot water for 7 days, they must provide utilities it is their legal duty. You can with hold the rent or a portion of the rent till they fix the issue. You can also go to the local council if the landlord refuses to do anything, the council will fix it and charge the landlord.

Personally she sounds a bad landlord so I'd find a better property along with a better landlord

I can’t speak to issues with your landlord but as I nurse I do know that a cold is a virus ..you can not catch a cold because it’s cold..!!! That said, I hate being cold,🥶 especially in my own place:( Good luck with that awful landlord!!

The poster is in the UK, not USA. The laws here are different. I advise him to go to CAB and get some advice. He can also ring the council and ask them too.
