Hi, 3 days ago I had inguinal hernia surgery at hospital. There is still quite a lot of inflammation around the wound. It has a dressing on it so I can’t see the wound to see if it is infected. Is inflammation normal? I don’t have a fever and it doesn’t hurt too much so might it not be infected?

Inflammation after hernia surgery
Sounds like normal healing.
Infection would produce more pain than normal for the procedure, fever, redness/heat and drainage.
If your bandage is dry and not wet with yellow or green discharge, you have no fever, and pain is normal and/or relieved by pain meds, you're okay.
Surgery is invasive so give yourself time to heal.
I find the first 3 days or so are the worst then it starts getting better.
Obviously if you start to feel worse not better, call your surgeon.
Where are you seeing inflammation of you haven't taken the dressing off?
There’s a lot of swelling on that side. I can tell that there’s swelling even though the dressing is still on
We chatted the other dayDid you change the dressing?
Is it red?
Hi, I don’t have a spare dressing so I’m going to go to the doctors tomorrow and get them to inspect the round and change the dressing
Call them today. Tell them what you see ask if it's normal.
It's ok to call them in between appointments. Of it sounds abnormal maybe they would want to see you today.
