Kicking Aerophagia ‘s butt ( one of many anxiety issues im addressing !! )

Hi

Well. Like the post says, I have finally decided to take matters into my own hands and treat the Aerophagia, the belching and the TMJ. I’m so proud of myself for taking this leap into being anxiety-free . But, I know it’s not gonna be the easiest thing..I know it, but I’m going to go through the steps and get this done. I will accomplish this goal.

For the first step into this: I found a myofunctional therapist that helps with Aerophagia. She has a free consultation..and I signed up. She Skype’s most people so that’ll be convenient for me. (That’s coming soon 👀)

I also time myself for 2 mins , (4x throughout the day ) and practice breathing in and out of my nose only .

At first, I was so jittery as I depended on this burping habit and grinding my teeth for so long (2 years), but now I take back my SELF and am doing these exercises . So anyways, I get jittery and my tongue feels like it was going to get glued to the lower part of my mouth. I also do exercises to make sure my tongue stays where it should. I get all tensed up , but I’m calming down , best I can .

But guys. I feel way more relaxed now since I’ve been doing the exercises, and this is after a couple days . Anxiety still tries to get in the way and the belching ...but I guess I’ll have to push them out of my way👋🏽

Any one else finally addressing the Aerophagia issues ( if you have it) or the consistent benching? What methods could you share with me that’s helping you, if you don’t mind?

Good for you. I didn't have this issue but I had many of my own. Taking control was the first step for me. I wish you peace in your life. Be happy.

Hi, only just seen your message.

I get tmj and aerophagia, the burping, the jitters when it feels my tmj is getting out of control. I also get back, neck and shoulder tension, that makes me feel dizzy and sick. I know its all connected, but have been suffering like this for about three years.

Could you tell me who this person is you Skype please.

My life is so restricted by all this, I have tried different things to no avail. And at the moment just trying to live with it, which is hard....

Sarah Hornsby! I found her on YouTube and have been practicing the “safe” techniques. Sometimes I get off track , though. I’ll admit. But , she’s helped me. I wasn’t able to secure the consultation because of the money but I watch her videos, from the breathing techniques to her interviews. She’s so informative and insightful. I still have some TMJ issues but it’s been much much better. I hope you find success in this too. I can relate , but you will find YOUR method of healing !!

Thank for the info, I will definitely take a look.

When you read up on tmj, it can affect a lot of your body, it can even cause stomach issues, all connection, but you don't realise or think about it.

I have sore jaw, tooth pain, neck, shoulder, back pain, sometimes arm and leg pain, watery eyes, sneezing and definitely upset stomach at times.

I found something on line called "Dental Distress" good info and some patient stories, makes you realise that you are not going mad when you get all these strange symptoms.

I think at night I could bite a tree in half! 😂 And I have chewed through many mouth guards.

I did try something called cerezen, Google it. They go in your ears to stop the hinge joints meeting, quite successful, but not completely, and very expensive, I have wasted a lot of money trying to find a solution. But it is now an unconscious habit and habits are hard to break at the best of times. I used to bite my finger nails, and have had to stop as that was definitely making it worse.

Anyway thank you so much for the information.
