HI guys,

I've got debilitating anxiety to the point where I cannot move off the sofa I have racing heart feeling like I can't breathe. Constantly feeling like I have a bunged up nose but I don't trembling fatigue the worst headaches ever. I had bloods taken and everything came back normal. So I've been put up to 150mg sertraline. I've tried cbd oils. The doctor doesn't want to give benzos I'm thinking of asking for a beta blocker, what''s your experience's with beta blockers? My main panic is my heart racing and that sends me into a spiral. I'm a 32 year old female with 3 children and I can't live my life like this anymore 😢😢

The only medication I’ve ever taken for my anxiety / health anxiety is Propanolol ( Beta blocker ) ... I used to take 80mg slow release capsules but they are then hard to stop taking or reduce the dosage. So now I’m down to just 10mg each day and as and when I feel a little panicky or the heart starts to race I take another 10mg. It’s one of very few tablets that can be taken as required . “Within reason” so speak to your doctor first. It seems to slow down my heart rate to normal and takes away the other symptoms associated with anxiety and panic.

So it works good? My anxiety really stems from health anxiety. My health worries me as soon as I feel my heart race that's what causes my anxiety. I've taken a couple of my husband's diazepam in the past and it's done nothing to quell the anxiety. So betas are worth a go? How long did it take you to feel the effects nobster?

The great thing is that they work within around 20-30 minutes. 80mg are to be taken once a day in a morning but can make you feel meh during the day and taken on an evening can effect sleep in terms of not being able to sleep.

But this can be easily managed by taking 10-20mg tablets 1-2 times per day or as required by your doctor but during the day whilst your out and about and doing your usual routine.

They have very very minimal side effects and slow down your heart rate.

They are also a reassurance element too as they also :

Reduce high blood pressure

Reduces load on your heart

Reduces tremor

Reduces sweating etc etc

All by reducing the electrical activity in your heart which is one of the biggest complaints of anxiety.

Thanks mate gonna enquire about them to the doctor. Had to change docs as mine couldn't care less and just painted me out to be an over anxious female! And just kept plying me with ssris. Cheers for the advice x

That’s also a typical symptom of anxiety too. We all feel fobbed off by the doctor and we just need to remember that they successfully diagnose and treat thousands of people each year. It is a viscous circle and when it comes to anxiety they can issue a miracle cure so it’s trial and error with anti depressant medications etc and then other things as you go on. Each time I book an appointment I feel the same way as you do.

Did your doctor check your B12 level? If he did ask what level it is at. Levels under 200 are bad. B12 deficiency can cause horrible anxiety. If it is low, don't settle for oral supplements. You may not be able to absorb B12 properly and may need shots for the rest of your life.

I'm assuming they checked my b12, I couldn't really understand the form but I say ferratin on there too. And I was told all bloods came back normal no action needed 😕

As I found out, testing for B12 deficiency is not automatically included in routine blood tests. I had so many symptoms of B12 deficiency but my doctor never suggested this could be a problem. I did some Googling and saw that my symptoms were consistent with B12 deficiencies. I made another appointment with my doctor and asked him to test my level, which he was happy to do, and my level was at 113. He was surprised at how low it was since I wasn't a vegetarian or over the age of 50. Some of my symptoms were horrible anxiety, depression, dizziness, insomnia, numb toes, extreme tiredness, and the tip of my nose was cold. As soon as I received my first B12 shot I felt a wonderful calmness settle over me. My anxiety evaporated. On another note, I had been seeing a therapist for my anxiety and more specifically social anxiety. After about 6 months of shots my social anxiety left. So weird that a simple vitamin deficiency could wreak such havoc with my life.

I’m on Beta Blockers and my pulse never rises. But they will also lower your BP.

I would try magnesium glycinate, that would put a stop to most of what you're suffering from pretty quickly.

I have looked into taking magnesium there are so many supplements about I just don't know what I can take with sertraline 150mg. I've also been trying CBD oil 3.5% hasnt really done anything for me. I'm going to ask my doctor about beta blockers, the only thing that gives me anxiety is being able to feel my heart race and I can't calm it down no matter whether I'm breathing properly or not. It's an awful feeling

CBD isn't a cure all though it can help some, depends on the brand and strength too. The pills are they anti depressants/ sedative ?.
