I just finished biking almost 5 miles at the gym and got this intense adrenaline rush that made me feel depressed??
I’m freaking out. I never feel like this. Can somebody please give me reassurance that this is withdrawals from Zoloft? I’m so so scared. I’ve been off 2.5 weeks and have never experienced anything this crazy.
One thing I remember happening before I recovered from my episode of GAD was that although excercise was generally really good for me and I would go running for very short runs in the fields at the back of my house, it did not get rid of the anxiety symptoms at that stage of my illness. Whether or not you take Zoloft it will take time to recover from the episode that lead you to take Zoloft in the first place. You just need to be brave, have patience and go on doing just what you are doing and you will definitely recover.
I found that I had to get out of the house because, like Sam I was feeling trapped inside. My heart pounding constantly was scaring me so I took up running because this would make my heart pound anyway, thus normalising the symptom and it was great for getting me fitter.
One thing that did happen however was when I over did it in a big way, the adrenaline as you described suddenly terrified me and I felt much worse. I never over did it again after that and was more careful and it did not happen again.
Excercise is great, so is relaxing, positive thinking and trying not to panic.
You are brilliant at keeping your life full and constantly challenging yourself. I think that like me, you also have to learn to be patient and not allow symptoms to scare you. As we always say they are only symptoms and cannot harm you. They will definitely go when you stop worrying about them but they can take a long time to go.
My main fear when I was really ill was that I might never get better. Whenever I had symptoms, which was all the time at first, or when they got worse for some reason, I would panic. That's the bit we have to try not to do.
Just know that you are doing all the right things and you will get better but give yourself time.
You will get there.

I would definitely assume withdrawals. You might be experiencing some PAWS (post acute withdrawal syndrome). While you did do the taper, your brain chemistry is probably (opinion, not medical facts) still adjusting back a bit to its natural state. I would just monitor the situation and if this becomes persistent, talk to your doctor. Hopefully just a one and done type of thing. Don't let it dissuade all the hard work you're doing in the gym and for your mental health. Best wishes and take care!

Thank you!! I hope you’re right. I never felt anything like that before in my life. Thanks
