It’s back again aggrrrr

Over the past 3 days I’ve been obsessing over my heart rate. I have a Garmin watch and it tracks my heart rate and i had turned off the heart monitor but turned it back on 3 days ago bc i was getting anxious and wanted to see what it was. Today i looked and it was as low as 52 😭 i freaked out. My head or disease i don’t know which can’t understand why a 100 pound over weight woman would have a resting heart rate of 58😭😭😭 I know I should be happy about this but i freak out thinking my heart is going to stop.

Hi throw your heart monitor away! 52 is quite normal. It is when it over 120 or so that you might have to worry. x

I like your spunk, Hypercat! I had a blood pressure monitor in my house for a while. That was a BAD IDEA. It no longer lives here.

Ha ha It's fine unless it becomes obsessive! x

This one makes me laugh! Can so relate haha! Mines 54 first thing in the morning and I had the same fear. Had an Apple Watch that could track heart and shut the heart rate monitor off. Didn’t upgrade to the Apple Watch 4 due to its upgraded heart monitoring capabilities :)

Don't go by the monitor. Your heart rate fluxuates minute to minute hour to hour. It is not something you can control. Now with that being said yes deep breathing will bring down an anxiously high heart rate along with meditation after some practice. You can put that monitor on and relax yourself as long as you want, your heart will not stop. I put my minitor on one day and screamed stop beating I demand you to stop and it wouldn't mattet a fsct it started to increase so then I started yelling speed up so fast you blow up in my chest. Guess what no dice it went up in the 100s as I jumped around acting like I could control it. And after I was tired of it not listening to me i sat down where I calmed down in 5 - 10 minutes and my resting rate came down to 58. I'm a big girl and I'm mid life. I stopped drinking and smoking about 6 years ago but I'm not healthy but I'm not unhealthy either except Anxiety, panic disorder, PTSD, depression and fibro. I am unmedicated but some medicatiin will change your rate too. Your fine stop worrying about something you can't control and worry about what you can. Just don't use the heart rate thing all the time. Good luck and gentle hugs!!

I had exactly the same problem, I had a Fitbit and constantly monitored my heart rate. It became an obbsession I was never satisfied, my heart rate resting would be 90 then all of a sudden it dropped to 56 then I slept with it on and it dropped as low as 40. My doctor told me to take it off and throw it as far into the sea. I kept it in a drawer and have settled a bit, tho I still tend to worry from time to time about my heart so you have my sympathies

Thanks everyone I have now turned off disabled the heart monitor. I still am gonna wear the watch bc i like tracking my steps but won’t turn it back on. Now that I’ve actually stopped and thought about it i think the death of my sister in laws mom triggered it bc that was 5 days ago. I should have know but i gave into it.

Thanks for all the advice!!!
