Worry?: I don't know how they describe worry... - Anxiety Support
Worry?
Hi
When you say, they say it’s anxiety, I presume you mean the medics. The symptoms you have seem to suggest anxiety. I’m no medic of course..and only professionals can diagnose.
Anxiety can be deep rooted I guess , and the symptoms present at times without us knowing what is specifically making us anxious, because it is buried deep.
Maybe ask them questions about it. Tell them what you have said here..
I struggle with anxiety, some times I know what is making me anxious. Other times I wake and feel hot have palpitations, feel fear and I don’t know why...but the feelings of dread are there...
Best wishes x
I used to have the exact same question. The way I understand it now is that worry/anxiety is not always something you FEEL. It's your THOUGHTS. The "what ifs" and "I shoulds" and thoughts of worst case scenarios. I rarely had feelings of anxiety but I did have almost nonstop thoughts of all my plans going to hell and making the wrong decision, and then I would plan 5 steps ahead to cover every possible contingency. So when doctors told me I had anxiety my response was always "but I don't FEEL anxious!" Turns out I was. Big time!!
I should add, now that I'm much better, I can look back and remember that at the time I didn't recognize/acknowledge just how frequent or truly "worrying" my thoughts were. It's only now that I have peace of mind that I can make the comparison. Do you think it's possible you might be having some worrying thoughts that just seem like normal thoughts to you right now? Google "thinking traps of anxiety" and see if you recognize any of them. I hope this helps.
