I've heard so, but I can't really tell you it's going to make things amazingly better. First, you need good quality and type. Magnesium glycinate is the best. It's great for the nervous system. Needs to be paired with calcium (some supplements will contain both mag glyc and calcium) for absorption. I would think it would have a positive impact on nerves as it can help with muscle aches. Everyone is going to differ in terms of what helps. I just started magnesium glycinate with calcium, so maybe I'll have a better answer in a few weeks. Nothing so far, but I'm sure it's going to need to take time to work in the body.

Thank you i really want to give them a try. My anxiety has gotten worse lately so i will look into it.

Absolutely. I asked my doctor and he basically just gave me a "thumbs up" to try it. I think it's in the "it can't hurt" category. Make sure you follow the instructions or doctor/pharmacist's opinion on a dosage as too much magnesium is not good for the heart and can cause irregular heart beats. Another good supplement I like is theanine, the primary amino acid found in green tea that also helps with anxiety. Fish oil, probiotics, and iodine are also helpful. Fish oil is great for the brain, probiotics help with gut health which is linked to anxiety, and iodine for neurotransmitters. Iodine, like magnesium, needs to be at a proper dose as to not cause issues with your thyroid. Those are some that I've tried. Hope this helps and I hope you're able to find some relief.

Hello. I’ve been taking magnesium citrate but not with calcium. Is this the same ? Helps me sleep and clams me a little.

I’d like to take it properly and get the maximum benefits.

Thanks.

It actually looks like magnesium citrate usually comes with calcium in it, but it is available to the body to use without calcium. They do sell magnesium citrate and calcium together, usually at a reverse 2 to 1 ratio which is supposed to be optimal for getting the most of out of the supplement. Magnesium citrate works great, it's actually absorbed better by the cells than glycinate. Glycinate contains just a smidge more of magnesium than citrate, but the most important factor is that it's more readily available for the body to use, which citrate does the best.

Great. I’m on the right track. I do find it helps me rest and clans the thoughts spinning around in my head. Just wasn’t sure if I was taking the right one! I get mine from Natures Best website as has the best pure stuff in them.

Thank you so much for the info. I do appreciate it. ⭐️

Can you take magnesium supplements with Beta Blockers?

in reply toPadayn01

Yes, as long as you're healthy. I would contact a doctor or pharmacist to make sure your list of medications doesn't have any issues. Beta blockers can cause a decrease of magnesium and taking some shouldn't be an issue. It's important that kidney function is normal. Many heart patients are given magnesium supplements because it is helpful. Another key is not taking too much because it can cause counter intuitive issues like irregular heartbeat. The best advice I can give is to ask a doctor or pharmacist whether it's okay or a good idea to implement magnesium supplements and that it won't interact with your medication. With beta blockers, you should be okay to take magnesium. I'm not a doctor, nurse, or pharmacist so this is not a substitute for professional medical advice.

I had a lot of problems sleeping and it helped with that and I think that sleeping better helped with my anxiety. So yes, I would say that although not a miracle cure it has helped. I live in Spain and buy one that is called Bisglicinato de Magnesio, I don't know if it would be called Bisglicinate in English?
