I now have had burping & gas for about 5 days...gas feels like it’s trapped in my back, chest & shoulders. The pains comes & goes throughout the day. Im currently taking omerazole 20mg wondering if I’m experiencing side effects not really use to taking meds whatsoever...anyway I was just wondering if I should go the the ER just to make sure that it is gas that’s causing the chest, shoulder & back pain & nothing else. What do you think?

Burping with Gas
Hi, I wouldn't worry to much about the burping or the pains. To put your mind at rest you could always try ringing the nhs 111 service. Gavison is always good for unset tummy, but make sure you leave at least 2 hours between you tablets and the Gavison as they dont work as well if you take them at the same time.
I can't take thoes tablets as they give me gas and a painful tummy.
Hope this helps x
You might need some further testing to be certain your're on the right med. Gastros frequently suggest ranitidine for digestive issues, and that sometimes along with omeprozole type drugs. I had a barium swallow which showed gastric reflux, which remains in the esophagus for hours. Also have gastric issues further down, due to many of the high fiber foods I try to eat. I use the little green gas pills a lot to eliminate that. They are inexpensive and you can take 2 several times each day.
Because I have been having digestive issues such as acid reflux, I also experience the constant burping. I'm also very gassy(on the other end) as well. I was once prescribed omeprazole back when this first started but I didn't stay on it long and I'm not so fond of medicine so I have a hard time just resulting to medication for anything. I did learn that gas or acid reflux can present all sorts of symptoms that feel like sharp pains, bubbly sensations, heart palpitations, and pains. So I'm still trying to learn myself the extremes of gas and acid reflux.
It is probably side effects. Everyone I know who has taken omeprazole has had those effects. Some dealt with it by controlling their dose themselves and taking every other day instead of daily. Some, like myself went back to gp and the gp swapped prescription to lansoprazole which is said to work better. It is definitely better than omeprazole dor everyone I know who has been swapped to that one. Oh the side effects and burping are very bad and I'd you can't keep even Easter down, your electrolytes could be imbalanced and it would then be a good idea to go to a and e so you don't become dehydrated and so you may get iv fluids and oh boy you week feel better after that if that's the right treatment for you. Try not to worry because there is usually an answer for everything that bothers us, we just need the information and someone to care. Sending hugs, you got this. X
