I got prescribed Mirtazapine

Hi everyone. The anxiety medication buspar did not work for me and still having bad day to day anxiety so my doctor prescribed me mirtazapine which she said would help with my sleep and anxiety but like always i am nervous for side effects!! Has anyone taken this medication? What is your opinion on it? Any bad side effects? Thank you!

I’ve been on Mirtazapine(remeron) for about a year. I believe it does help me sleep and I haven’t noticed any side effects at all. We are all different, but I would say it’s worth a try. Good luck and God bless.

I certainly don't want to be the reason you do not try the medicine, but I will tell you that I have been on it for about 3 and a half years. While it does make me fall asleep and stay asleep, I have gained 35 lbs. I am now trying to wean off it and it is a slow process. I eat very clean because I have celiacs disease, so the weight gain is not from over eating. It is awesome for sleep but the weight gain is horrible.

Helps me sleep and helps with anxiety as well. I disagree with what cortisolqueen posted below. Although it is well documented that some people put on weight with this medication, it is not the med that causes weight gain. It may increase your appetite, and the increased food intake is what causes the weight gain. So long as your diet and lifestyle don't change, you should not gain weight, you simply have to be diciplined. Be well
