For now just wanted to say hello and I hope to get some help/support. A little bit about me. Up until 6/2010 I was running my own business when, as best I can tell, I got hit with anxiety (not a panic attack). If you want the full long story let me know. But the short version is after being put on benzos summer 2010 and having to taper thru hell to get off them by 2011 I suffered thru the healing and after years of bouncing from part time to part time job I landed a great one 1/2017 and was doing good. Had a little morning anxiety but it was under control. Starting 11/2018 it came back and now I’m on a 30 day medical leave which for all intentions is pretty much the kind way of letting me go. So I’m desperately trying to find a job/career that I can do while having anxiety. It’s clear to me the less stressful the better. So I guess I’m on here to get and give support while looking for answers to my anxiety and work. Dr says it is general anxiety. Thanks for listening.

Hi Andrew
I too have Generalised Anxiety after having a long career as a manager in social care. I think you are wise to try to get back to work but as you say finding something not too stressful is also important. I do voluntary work now and some committee work which is just 2days a month. I enjoy these but tend to be exhausted afterwards. I also find excercise is really good and I enjoy photography so any hobbies you have should help.
I have been trying to find out how long my first attack of anxiety is likely to last.
How long did yours last for and why do you think it returned. Were you on any antidepressants when it returned?
I would be happy to read your full story if you want to write it as it can help to tell it
I am very largely recovered from mine but know it is still lingering as I still have breathlessness particularly in the morning.
Best wishes to you and everyone still suffering.
Kim
Hello and welcome to the group!
I agree with Kkimm in that having good hobbies is important. Healthy stress relief habits are also helpful. Low stress environments are nice but you can never eliminate stress completely so being able to handle it is important. Often times a good hobby can fulfill that role of stress relief.
Anyway, Good luck! I can’t wait to hear any news.
Welcome aboard andrew.
Stress is so debilitating, hitting us on so many levels. I just want to encourage you to really engage in stress relief and find things that provide relief/escape. Over time, you should get the rewards even on a subconscious level. Hang in there.
