Barry McDonagh hits on a very important point here:
Say to yourself: “From this day on I vow to love myself and to treat myself as someone I truly value. Each decision I make from now on will be based on this perspective.” Stop waiting for the world to love you. We have to respect, appreciate, and love ourselves first and foremost. Choose to love yourself. So through it all, keep repeating to yourself, “I love myself.”
Don’t try to find a reason to justify your love. Instead, give your love to yourself unconditionally and without reserve. You don’t need a reason, and you don’t need anyone to say you deserve it. Choose to love yourself unapologetically.
So walking to work, you say, “I love myself.” Waiting for money to come out of the ATM: “I love myself.” Cleaning the dishes: “I love myself.” Driving your car: “I love myself.” Repeat it over and over. What better thought could you ever have going through your head? Each time you practice, it’s like giving yourself a small but precious gift. Go about your day “love bombing” your subconscious mind. This has the effect of literally rewiring the neurological pathways of how you think and perceive yourself.
