So over this!

My blood pressure has been elevated all day, it's been fluctuating but it's been elevated. Now I'm laying down for bed and I am terrified I'm going to have a heart attack or stroke in my sleep. Seriously this is bull s#!t.

Unfortunately anxiety leads to elevated blood pressure, so it's one of the vicious circle things. As you get more anxious, your blood pressure will go up, making you more anxious.

In another post you said you are 33, so while obviously I'm not a doctor, I wouldn't have thought high blood pressure would bring on anything immediate. If it stayed at that level for a long time it might lead to longer term health risks, but that's all.

I read Dr David Burns' The Feeling Good Handbook and it makes the point that people don't die of panic attacks. At their worst you can feel as though your heart is going much too fast and will fail, but it doesn't happen. When we panic our bodies get ready to fight or run away from something, but they don't destroy themselves because what would be the point?

If you supplement with magnesium it will regulate your blood pressure and keep it steady, we don't get enough in modern day life.

I suffer with terrible health anxiety and the last thing I would ever allow myself to do is buy equipment that monitors my blood pressure or heart rate. Monitoring it is one thing that will certainly become an obsession for me and cause me to panic.

But I do understand everyone is different and maybe at times monitoring it offers you comfort. Or maybe you have to monitor it anyway for another health issue?

If it's not necessary for you to monitor it, I would weigh up how helpful it really is. Which does it offer more regularly comfort or distress?

You're not going to have a heart attack or a stroke. You're anxiety is causing your blood pressure to rise. Try to relax. Do whatever you can to take your mind off it and you'll see that your blood pressure will go down. I know it's not easy, but don't let your anxiety send you to bed and see you wasting the day. Things will get easier, there is a lot of help out their for anxiety suffers. xx

Thank you all for replying! I ended going to emergency and I was told that 140/90 isn't bad. They suggested I make an appointment with my Dr asap because it's been elevated for 3 days now that I know of.

Try to relax. My bp remained elevated for a couple weeks one time. You are going to be ok. Try to breathe. Hopefully you aren’t checking in.

I'm doing ok. Just really anxious about nothing. My BP went down to 108/78 so I am very pleased with that.

Omg let me tell you. The doctors are testing me for some skin virus. I am not a happy boy. Good for you on the bp. I told you lol.

I went to the dermatologist because I broke out in this rash after I started lexapro. I stopped about 4 weeks ago and it is still there. The Dr biopsies it and said it’s either an allergic reaction or a common skin virus. It sucks. I’m having a really hard time with this

An allergic reaction still after 4 weeks? I guess its a possibility. I havent heard of an allergic reaction lasting that long. I hate getting skin rashes. I have had a couple do to allergic reactions to amoxicillin. Do you get body acne at all?

If it’s what I think it is it’s called molluscum contagium and it is a virus. It can last anywhere from 6 months to a year. The worst part is it spreads so I’m trying not to touch it. I think I got it from my two year olds pre school somehow.
