A little help here

Hi all,

It seems I’ve declared victory a little too soon. My girlfriend and I recently flew back home from college and since then I’ve been staying with my parents. My anxiety (I believe) has returned quite a bit. I notice my heartbeat often and I get winded easily not to mention I’m often short of breath.

Any help here would be appreciated

Shortness of breath is a very common symptom of anxiety, even when your not feeling anxious. People with anxiety tend to breath fast and shallow as a habit from anxiety. This will cause a feeling of shortness of breath fast heart rate palpitations. Try breathing exercises 4 sec deep inhale hold 4 sec exhale for 4 seconds. If it makes you feel better to buy an oxygen saturation sensor at Walmart for 15 bucks. If your lacking oxygen it will tell you in seconds. You wanna have a satiation level 95% and above.

If you’re like me, it comes from being at your parents! Now matter how sweet & accommodating they are, it’s always stressful.

If you think it’s that, pray to who ever you chose, and then enter the home/room.

Best wishes...travel combined with family is tough.

My understanding is that relapsing is always a possibility...forever. For me, my anxiety was manifesting in insomnia. Although it's mostly under control for the past 2 years, tough-sleepless nights still happen. I say all that to say that maybe your victory is real, you're just calibrating what victory looks like. I agree too that maybe being home is a trigger? Hang in there, don't get discouraged. Pack your time with things you enjoy and definitely practice the slow breathing.

ACCEPT the feelings. Some thought has triggered a drop in adrenaline, and this is how your body responds to the drop.

It is OK to be nervous when you go home from college.

This used to define HOMESICK for us when we came back at break....... :)
