In therapy today I was moving towards old childhood wounds that haven't been attended do. I definitely inherited this anxiety from my mother who I know got it from her father.
I was wondering if anyone had a resource they had used or knew of recommending. I feel optimistic about pursuing this avenue in therapy. I know a lot of my fears seem to be childlike when I reflect on them. And I do remember anxious moments as a child in groups and crowds.
I'm not familiar with any specific resources right off hand, but I will send them your way if I find any. I recall some social anxiety from a child as well. I haven't explored where this might come from. I hope you find what you need!

Starting something new in therapy always gives me hope, too. I'm so glad you want to learn more right away. You will definitely get more resources from your therapist. How often do you get to see them?

Hi socalpoppy,
I've been finding a few things (books and videos). I think it will be beneficial for me to explore this. Like you starting this is giving me something to look forward to. I see my therapist once a week, and my psychiatrist once every 8 to 10 weeks for a med check in.
Are other people in your family anxious too?
Bat.

A friend of mine has passed away, so I've been away from the forum for a couple of weeks, but I'd still like to answer your question. That timing for therapy and your psychiatrist sounds very good. I hope you are getting settled in with your therapist.
And I have seen it in families. My husband's sister has had trouble sleeping and the medicine that finally worked was anti-anxiety medicine. Her daughter definitely has anxiety issues though I don't know it if it has been diagnosed or if she is taking medication for it. Funny thing (kinda of) is that she is newly married and her husband is a hero in our family.

I hope you are sustained in your grief with happy memories of your friend.
