Hiya

Do you drink much caffeine?

Lou

No not really i would say 3 cups a day .

Serenity2014, might I suggest you cutting out all caffeinated beverages

for a few days to see if your symptoms subside. In an already over sensitized nervous system, our bodies are put over the edge with caffeine. If you feel you are addicted to caffeine, cut down slowly so you don't get a rebound headache.

Making sure you hydrate during the day is important as well. xx

Let us know how you do.

Yes i will do . Its not helping im constantly checking it when it goes high freaking me out !

I was like that Serenity. Literally had my finger glued to my pulse and monitored my heart beat and blood pressure multiple times a day. Afraid to exert my heart even though tests were normal. It's a high response to anxiety which will eventually go away but not until we refocus our minds on life and not our bodily functions.

Your doctor may be able to give you a little something to quiet down your thoughts and physical response. My best to you. xx

Hi

My fitbit was showing the same reading. Like you, I was only drinking 3 cups a day.

I didnt drink coffee for 24 hours (switched to decaf) then, when I had another caffeinated coffee my heart rate went up again.

Im feeling ridiculously anxious at the moment and have been the last 2 weeks. Im cutting down to 1 coffee a day and the rest decaf as I now know its increasing my anxiety and heart rate.

If you do the same, let us know how you get on. Would be good to know.

Mine goes in between 62-130 resting.. I have postural orthostatic tachycardia so my hr is usually higher than normal esp when I move, but I did I Holter monitor and they were not concerned about the fluctuation . Also a nursing student and a normal range is 60-100

Its strange cause dont feel it racing or pounding in my chest ! So if it went over 100 would you say go back to doctors?

courtney67 profile image
courtney67 in reply toSerenity2014

I wouldn’t. I mean if it’s over 135 I would say maybe get it checked out. Are you experiencing anxiety when checking it ? Do you find yourself checking it more often. 20bpm is not a large fluctuation. Recent comments I’ve seen , cut out or down on coffee, that’s one thing that could cause elevated heart rate. Nicotine as well, alcohol, anxiety, stress.

And I mean like consistently 135 and above. But 100 even though it seems high is in the normal range.

I took my Apple Watch off the first week I started school because I found myself checking it so much and my hr was just going higher and higher. I don’t think medically anything is wrong with you but the Fitbit has to go! Lol

get rid of the fitbit, if you have health anxiety.

Throw the Fitbit away or get one that does not read your HR. It will only cause additional anxiety, which it did to me. I still struggle with it but do not freak out as much as I did when I had a device keeping up with my heart rate. They are also not accurate majority of the time, especially when your wrist isn’t completely straight. Good luck!

Good for you Serenity, a Fitbit is not meant for the over anxious person. You'll do better without it. :) xx

I can say that from experience Serenity. I once had a Cascio watch that took not only my pulse but blood pressure as well as run a little cardiac strip. The day it broke, I got

better. :) xx
