High Uric acid and high cholesterol

Hi guys, so I went to my GP and I found out I have a severe UTI and there’s a high amount of uric acid in my blood. Apparently I also have high cholesterol and I’ve been feeling pretty crappy because I’m really scared:( I have an anxiety disorder too and I’m trying not to be anxious but just needed to talk it out instead of suffering. Anyone else suffer from any of these?

My mom has dealt with multiple uti’s and also had high uric acid. She also has high cholesterol. Once her UTI’s were under control her acid levels returned to normal.

Hi Krn210 :) thanks for your reply! I hope your mom feels better and I know how she feels. I just started medication and hopefully mine will balance out too. Was her cholesterol levels reducing once she managed to normalize her acid levels?

Her cholesterol has continued to be high. She has battled with her cholesterol for awhile. I hope that you feel better soon! I know she was miserable while all that was going on.

Thank you Krn210, I know how she feels because it’s definitely a downer :/ but I hope she gets her levels down too!

My cholesterol was borderline last year. After cutting out sugars, doing daily walks, taking fish oil and fiber pills, and avoiding fatty foods... one year later I'm normal. Tough road, but you have to make lifestyle changes to lower cholesterol often times, or take prescription meds.

Hi MadtownDan! Thanks for your reply! It definitely is a tough road but we will manage :) I’m glad you’ve got your cholesterol levels back to normal! They didn’t give me meds for my cholesterol but I will definitely change up my lifestyle

Hi there Neha! I don't have high uric acid, but I do have high cholesterol and anxiety disorder. The uric acid imbalance can definitely be caused by your UTI issue. Just keep taking the medication they gave you and you should be golden.

Did they give you medication for the cholesterol? It's okay if they didn't, I'm just curious. Stay away from fried foods. Try to keep your overall fat consumption under 30 and make sure they're healthy fats like avocado, coconut, fish (basically plant and seafood sources). Try to stay away from animal fats (saturated fats), take a good quality fish oil supplement of at least 1000 mg (ask the pharmacist and they'll direct you to a good one), sick to whole grains and whole wheat bread, fast food and high sugar content in only moderation. You can do this!

Thank you for your reply Lm92 :) no they didn’t give me medicine for my cholesterol as the doc says I’m too young to have medication for it (I’m 24yrs) so I definitely need to make lifestyle changes. I have meds for the uric acid and I’m taking them. You know how anxiety can get.. I always tend to overthink a lot and get myself extremely anxious :( but I need to keep in mind it’s only the anxiety and nothing else and it’s not dangerous

Definitely. Anxiety is so cruel. It makes us automatically go to the worse case scenario. The good thing is that you have age on your side! I know you'll be just fine. If it makes you feel any better, I've been fighting high cholesterol levels since I was 8 years old (gotta love bad genes). I'm 38 now, so it can't be all that bad. ;)

Oh wow! You’ve had it from such a young age :( I’m sorry about that! And yes anxiety is cruel. It makes me google things I don’t want to read and it just escalated from there. And yeah! I’ve got mine from genes too! I’m happy that there’s someone who understands and knows exactly how it feels . But we gotta keep our heads up high and be happy :)

Uti can be common in some women, the antibiotics if you have been given them should sort it out.
