libido and anxiety

Is anyone's libido just off the charts with anxiety and find that sex reduces all the tension in your body and calms your mind. But only for a short while and then you are back to being anxious again?

Hi autumnthebrat, isn't anything we use to reduce our stress short lived? Whether it be sex, meds, exercise etc. What can give you a more balanced around the clock relief from tension is living in the moment, mindfulness, meditation and deep breathing. Those tools can give both your mind and body a peaceful, calm feeling. We have to be careful in what we use to reduce stress since "fear" and "excitement" arouse the same area of the brain but for different reasons. Sometimes the body can't distinguish the good rush of adrenaline from excitement and happiness. . All in all, it's about finding what works for each one of us. A combination of a less stressful life, exercise, healthy diet and for respite each day can make a world of difference.

Excellent reply! It's almost sad that even when something makes you excited or happy, it can cause the same anxiety reactions as something that's bothering you. When my boyfriend and I have sex, it's awesome; however, sometimes I feel like I just had an anxiety attack afterwards. It's crazy.
