The first step you should take is realize that you ARE getting enough air, anxiety just has the power to make it feel like we aren't. It would literally be impossible for you to "not get enough air" just because of anxiety. You won't stop breathing, even if you try to hold your breath, your body won't physically let you stop breathing. our bodies are made to help us live and provide our bodies with adequate air.

Sometimes what i do when I'm having trouble breathing (or at least FEEL like it, cause in reality I'm not) I actually try to hold my breath and when i can't, it makes me realize, wow -- my body really is not going to let me stop breathing. If you feel like your breathing too quickly, some people say breathing into a paper bag can help for a little bit to get some Co2 back in your body.

but like i said, what helps the most is realizing and accepting, and BELIEVING that you ARE getting enough air -- this acceptance will help rid some of the fear around this anxiety of not getting enough air, which may in turn lower your symptoms of feeling this way.

Hi xogemxo it's anxiety causing the not getting enough air feeling.try not to think about it,easier said than done I know !!!! But like the other reply stated its because when are anxiety levels are up we over think things ! I to get breathless at times and its always when my anxiety is high.just tell yourself this will pass once my anxiety calms down.its just tension in my body and you will be fine then next time it happens you will not think to much about it.as you can they say I have had this before and it will go when its ready.

Hi there all the time I’m taking deep breaths or I feel I can’t breath.. I have thought I have a lung disease I think I have asthma than I rule out it’s my anxiety. I get what you mean like your not breathing enough air but because we’re anxious it really seems a lot worse than it is. Keep a diary when it’s at it’s worse. When I’m super relaxed at a spa or watching a movie I never acknowledge it.

With any pain I find when I think about any part of my body it intensifies: if I think about my knee it starts hurting when I think about my heart I feel it’s crushing me. Than when I think I can’t breath it gets really bad.
