Does anyone else have anxiety about taking any medication at all? I have to get antibiotics today for a kidney infection and I'm terrified to take them.

MEEE
Yes it is scary especially when you read the accompanying leaflet with all the side effects. Nowadays they have to list everything, however unlikely to protect themselves from lawsuits. All I can say is the doctor has prescribed this for you and has weighed up all the risks. It has to be said the implications of an untreated kidney infection could be very serious indeed. Please take your prescribed tablets and if you do experience any side effects get back to your doctor who will look at alternatives.
Hope you feel better soon.
Carrieblevins1998, my wife had a kidney infection a couple of weeks ago. She phoned up the doctor and he gave a prescription of an anti-biotic, a week's course I think. She took the tablets and after 2 or 3 days the pain receded and went. It's important to finish the course of tablets which she did.
So the chouce is simple, take the tablets and you are quickly free of the pain of kidney infection and it protects your kidneys from any possible damage.
If you don't take them, you'll probably recover eventually but yoy'll be in pain and discomfort a long time.
Why be terrified of taking something that has been thoroughly tested and is going to relieve the pain quickly and protect your kidneys from damage?
I think I'd be terrified if I had a kidney infection and no antibiotics were available to cure it and prevent damage. Now that would be terrifying. So I think you've got it the wrong way round.
Oh, and remember to drink plenty of water to keep your kidneys healthy.
