Getting off medication

I've been on klonopin for almost 2 years (wow) I really want to get back to myself without anything synthetic in my body. I want to know that the things im feeling are from body and not from medication.

Anyways. I go back and forth from taking. .5mg to taking .25mg a day

How should I go off and stay off?

The only safe way in weaning off medication is through your doctor. Never try doing it alone. Also, once you start the weaning, it is meant to be done in slow cuts for 2 weeks at a time and never upping it. Symptoms will break through and that's okay. The thing is not giving in to your brain wanting more. Staying on the cut dose for 2 weeks (3 the most) is an efficient way of reaching your goal. Stay positive and have support around you. My doctor had me follow the Dr. Heather Ashton's Method of weaning off benzos. It's safe and it works. You can find some info on the internet which will display her schedule for different meds/dosages. Good Luck xx

Thanks abunch. I'm on .25mg and I'm gonna stay on this dose for 2 weeks and then split it into .125.... stay for 2 weeks then hopefully jump off.

I've asked my doctor before and she has said I can just quit... which scares me and I will not be doing that

I think you should consult your doctor about weaning your self of off them.

I was told the same thing about I can just stop at any time because of the low dosage .25mg 2 x a day. I was originally on 1mg 2x a day, it took 1 year of cutting pills to get to where I am now with out any major withdrawals. I have noticed for me since I also get migraines when I drop my dose any lower then what I am taking they come back harder and faster then the anx. To me i'd rather be on a benzo then some of those migraine meds that are highly potent and cost 20x as much and put on another planet for a day or 2.
