Ben medication can affect different people in different ways, I am on Citalopram it doesn't seem to do anything for me good or bad I only take it as my Dr says it's helping me. I suppose Citalopram has helped with the panic attacks I don't seem to have as many ! But that could be because I very rarely even go outside my house at all , I know I am agoraphobic but have been trying to go outside successful for a while then I gave up!

I was on them for about 18 months then came off but after I went back into hospital for Diverticular disease I am back on them now it's just over a year this time ! A friend I met in hospital is also on them but it took him about two weeks for them to do their job.So don't worry unless you get a bad turn then contact your Dr immediately or even your pharmacist as the pharmacist can recommend a different drug that will do the job without the side effects! Honestly even your Dr will tell you that you are not wasting Her/His time as they need to know of any side effects that worry you!

Good Luck and try not to worry ( I know easier said than done) Del

I've been on citalopram for 10 years and remember it took a month or so to start making me feel better. I recently tried to get off them by tapering off but after 2 months I had to go back on due to very bad withdrawls. I've been taking 20mg for 5 days now but still have some anxiety. Give it some time and it may help you!
