Hi, everyone.

Does this sound like a seizure to you? Earlier this morning around 3 or 4, I was falling asleep and felt my legs jerk. It did this twice then my body slightly jerk causing me to wake up out of my sleep, scared. I can hear the word 'epilepsy' run through my mind, I was afraid of going back to sleep so I stayed up watching TV for a bit before I found myself falling asleep.

At twelve or one in the afternoon, I took myself a nap and felt ok till my head haves the urge to arch back (weird) then my brain starts to vibrate (along with my eyelid twitching.)

Also, I had slightly bit the tip of my tongue and that made me super worried. Cause' biting tongue in sleep is sign of a seizure. 😢

Seizure in sleep or REM?

I am afraid of going back to sleep tonight.

Why are you afraid of going to the doctor? Do you think he or she would tell you something scary about your health. Actually the likelihood is, that he would probably tell you that there is nothing seriously wrong with your health. If so, you could then relax, stop worrying and go on with your life. The bottom line is, make an appointment with your GP as soon as you can. It is absolutely the BEST thing you can do for yourself!

It’s anxiety trust me You won’t be aware your having a seizure because it’s like your brain shuts off you’ll be out of it

(I’ve had them ) and the only thing. I personally remember is going to bed then next thing I now I’m in a ambulance with a ear splitting headache and confused heading to the Er and this was the very last one I had

I was 11 or 10

Thankfully I never hurt myself or bit my tounge and I too am afraid of having them again sometimes

Sounds like a myoclonic jerk. They're very common in that 1st stage of sleep as we drift off.

Myoclonus describes a symptom and not a diagnosis of a disease. It refers to sudden, involuntary jerking of a muscle or group of muscles. Myoclonic twitches or jerks usually are caused by sudden muscle contractions, called positive myoclonus, or by muscle relaxation, called negative myoclonus.

Its myoclonic jerk.I get it all the time.It happens when u are going into first phase of your sleep.also with an epileptic attack you lose control of your bladder .I have also had a genuine seizure and it was a side effect of starting a new medication.Im not epileptic ,its just that the med mixed with my body chemistry lowered my seizure threshold( the point at which you seize ) and because of that i had the seizure.I hope this helps. However as always im not diagnosing im just telling you what happened in my instance.Epilepsy doesnt just happen randomly like that with no history of having a seizure type illness.Relax .🙂
