So for a long time, about 4/5 months, i was on 10mg of Escitalopram (find out what the label name is where you are 'Lexapro' etc) but I upped myself to 15mg after those 5 months and still noticed no impact.
My therapist made a good point when I was doubting its effectiveness at 10mg that "how would you know what would you be like without that mall 10 mg dosage" and that although even though it doesn't feel great and that 10mg doesn't feel like its working for you it might be putting you at a point that stops you from feeling SEVERE anxiety.
That was a point i found very interesting. Because although we can all come onto forums like this and share similarities in our anxieties we all experience something totally unique and that I wouldn't know what I was like without that 10mg even though I feel the same symptoms you all do.
Anyway 3 weeks later after talking to my therapist I then upped my dosage from 10 to 15 and then to a full 20 (which is that maximum for escitalopram)
In this time I have been consistently reading self help CBT books outside my therapy sessions, and although I cannot find the determining factor that has started making me feel better; whether it's the CBT on top of CBT self help or the upped dosage or a combination.
I really feel like I have turned a corner in my anxiety but I want you all to know that I am really pro drug/therapy combos because I sometimes really start to feel 'normal' again (whatever that is), don't get me wrong recovery is along process filled with upsides and down, but its about whats learning what is normal for the human body.
I believe if you all keep trying and pushing with CBT ACT or any therapy and medication you can reach some form of peace with you anxiety.
BUT MY NUMBER ONE RULE IS THAT EVEN THOUGH NONE OF YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH THE WAY YOU MAY FEEL NOW JUST ACCEPT IT, ITS JUST WHAT LIFE HAS THROWN AT YOU FOR NOW AND IT REALLY WONT LAST FOREVER. BUT FOR NOW THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO BUT THE HELP IS OUT THERE, JUST BELIEVE THAT THIS ISNT GOING TO END IMMEDIATELY AND YOU CANT REMEDY ALL THE DISCOMFORT WITHOUT TIME. TIME WILL HEAL YOU AS YOU LEARN MORE ABOUT THIS CONDITION WE ALL SUFFER WITH.
