Dry mouth and throat getting on my nerves!!
Hi Anxiously1, I may have left Anxiety behind but the dry throat and mouth continue terribly. It like breathing in sand, it's that dry. My dentist recommended Biotene toothpaste, mouthwash and even a mouth spray which helps immensely because there is no alcohol in the product.
Most mouth washes contain alcohol which just make the mouth dryer, Biotene doesn't. If you have a problem from a dry nose because of the heat being turned on this time of year, a gel to use at the tip of your nose is called "AYR" over the counter at any drug store. Feels like an ocean breeze.
Hope those help some. xx
Thank you. I'm trying to figure out whether or not it is my anxiety or just the dry heat. But I also have sinus issues only during his time of year. I don't know which one it is but to be honest it's driving me so crazy.
I catch myself mouth breathing. I'm not hyperventilating just breathing with my mouth open instead of through my nose. but I will tell you that the meds I'm on for my heart and blood pressure certainly are contributing. It does drive me crazy as well. Watch your teeth, the dryness can have a big effect on them. xx
currently going thru it now ... just got to fight it . it’s very hard . i just fight it until i can sleep
Anxiety and some medications can cause the lessening of the production of saliva, causing the dryness, I live in a subtropical area where everyone has a water bottle when they walk, in their cars, etc. So there is always a water glass around to help. The saliva issue is important as it kills decay-causing "micro' whatever....It is considered medical condition if you're taking meds for anxiety and your insurance may cover some of your dental check-ups. Probably should be having your teeth cleaned and checked at least three times a year. There are sugarless mints that help with the dryness, and sugarless cough drops help with it big time. Ask your dentist for samples if you are taking meds that can cause the dryness. Good luck in your hunt for mouth Oasis.
All the time! Plus depression & anxiety tablets make you have a dry mouth.x
