I have throat nasties - feel like my throat is coated, or swollen, or has snapped shut. It can last days for me and happens in dry air and/or when I am v tired or anxious. It makes me v panicky.
Only time I don't ever get it is when I have a cold oddly enough!
Trying to stay calm and knowing it can't hurt me is all I can do. Doctors found nothing wrong with throat or nose.
I hsve had a long bout of feeling well after a year of CBT therapy. But work stress has recently brought back every symptom I ever had. I know it is anxiety but it is still hard to remain calm.
Good luck, and find distractions - it is the only thing that works for me.

Sometimes one of the main problems patients with anxiety suffer is being sensitized to their body . They worry that something is wrong and worry that most of the feelings they suffer are a chronic problems.
All I can suggest here is that you discuss all with your GP, He/She will give tests and understanding of the conditions you think you have. All this is part of the anxiety you are suffering and you need to understand that the surgery is there for you if something you are suffering is serious or nothing to worry about. Further types of support may be given to make you feel more confident of the conditions you are suffering from
All the best

the dr.said im fine, but my mind said im not.im always confused and anxious.
I suffered badly with this 20years ago until I spoke with an ENT specialist who explained that it is a common symptom of anxiety.
We unconsciously & imperceptibly clench our throat muscles when we're stressed which causes various symptoms such as you describe and which I remember only too well. I believe we also release unhelpful hormones which too can add to the discomfort.
But it's a vicious circle which only you can break, either by accepting that it is part of being a 'stresshead' and understanding that what is happening is uncomfortable but not harmful, or you could ask your GP for medication to help relieve your anxiety.
You will free yourself of this unpleasant symptom when you fully accept what is causing it, and that it can prevail even when you're not actually FEELING stressed, because people like us are
tensing muscles even when we're feeling good !
Good luck jasperram. x
Hi jasperram. My anxiety leads to a tight and sore throat. If I'm particularly wound up I choke very easily to on drink/food. In times of bad anxiety to talk is hard as my throat can feel so tight, weird hey? I personally think it's all anxiety with you and as your doctor has given you a clean bill of health try not to worry. Obviously go back and see your doctor again if it gets any worse. But other wise try and do something that will take your mind of it maybe a movie or good book ,whatever you enjoy doing. Hope this has been some help,Sam.
