I’ve had a really bad chest for 4 weeks 2 lots off antibiotics didn’t work, gone bak to my Doctors and I’ve got pneumonia 😩 really scared to take these new antibiotics haven’t taken them yet and I’m scared of I have a reaction cause I hate taking tablets! got headache numbness is my face but that’s due to my anxiety! I just feel really drained and I’ve got work in the morning don’t no what to do
Tablets are nothing to be frightened of. If you have a broken leg you would put a plaster cast on it. If your lungs are infected, take the tablets. The alternative is to end up in hospital with an IV line and on oxygen to help you breathe. I have been there even after the tablets and you feel like a truck has run over you. The struggle to breath is more frightening.
If you are down on energy, I would think you need to call in sick for a few days to help the body's infection fighting system do it's thing. It's definitely time to look after yourself.
Sorry you feel so ill, but please take the antibiotics. I too suffer with my chest, I have asthma and had a bad about in August, the pills stopped the infection and I'm fine now. If the doctor gives them to and talks about pneumonia, then you really need to have them or the next stop will be hospital. You feel drained because your body is going all out to fight the infection and needs the help of the pills. Can you take a couple of days off work and stay in bed, a good rest might help you. Take care of yourself and I hope you will soon be well again.. Try not to let your anxiety get in the way of treatment, I know that's easy to say and hard to do but give it a go. My best wishes to you.
I had pneumonia this time last year and ended up off work for three weeks, I was basically too ill to work. It took three courses of antibiotics and a dose of steroids to clear it. Im surprised that your doctor on diagnosing you didnt sign you off too. Antibiotics will only work if the pneumonia is bacterial but I had to have them anyway as I have asthma too. Please look after yourself as pneumonia can be really serious. You need all your energy to fight the infection, I dont think you can do that whilst you work.
