So tonight my chest pains have been a little intense..... I feel like someone is sitting on my chest and it keeps coming and going!! Is this normal? Has anybody else had this? Oh my god I’m panicking so much... 😢

Have you felt this before? I have chest pains all the time due to my anxiety, sometimes burning, sometimes stabbing, other times dull.

I have had chest pain before yes but I just feel like tonight is even worse I can’t seem to relax because it’s all that’s on my mind I think that’s why there worse cause I can’t seem to stop thinking about it.

Yes, the more you think about it and worry about it, the worse it gets.

Hi, yes I used to say it feels like an elephant is sitting on my chest preventing me from breathing properly !... Try to relax (easier said than done, I know!) and focus on breathing slowly and calmly. The feeling of pressure should lift eventually...

Best wishes xx

Fifty years ago Doctor Claire Weekes described this feeling as 'the iron hoof in the chest'. The pain is caused by muscular tension due to anxiety and is a very common symptom of anxiety.

How are you doing tonight and what did you do to help yourself last night?

To be honest, I can’t stop thinking about it which is sending my mind in to over drive!! Tonight I’ve had a broken sleep as anxiety symptoms are waking me up. A while ago the doctor prescribed me proponolol tablets which I was too scared to take but I think I may start them as I can’t deal with this anymore 😢

I LOVE propranolol! ZERO side effects.

Everything settles down, all "you" do is notice is that a while later you feel better.

it is given to theater folks, used as a one off for public speaking , granny's take it.

Sports people take it for " THE YIPP'S"

It has been around for a very long time and is tried and true.

I have had this a lot lately and it does go away when I calm down and reasure myself if it was anything to worry about it would have happened already and nothing ever does. Anxiety sucks and sometimes feels like it is never ending but try to remember these are just symptoms of your anxiety. Breathing exercises help as u cannot panic and have chest tightness when u are concentrating on your breathing for 10-20 mins x

Glad to hear it. I know exactly how u feel. It is so hard to deal with health anxiety, we are told not to worry, dont panic, calm down, ure fine! None of these statements help although we wish they would. I do not even believe doctors sometimes when they tell me im fine which is frustrating because I wish I could. I am now not citalopram along with my propranalol to try cope a little better. One day at a time and enjoy they good days and try fight through the bad x

Yeah I’m exactly the same, I always doubt the doctor and question if what they are saying is right. It’s so bad. I’ve had blood tests I’ve had my heart listened to and I’m still not satisfied!! I wish there was a switch and I could just completely shut it off forever 😢 I’m going to get my prescription for my propranolol. I go on holiday Tuesday and I’m so worried my anxiety is going to stop me enjoying myself x
