starting to take citalopram while looking after my kids - I am worried!

Hi everyone, this is my first post here. I am about to start taking Citalopram and I am quite worried.. I have a six year old and a nearly 2 year old and I don't know how the first weeks will go and how it is all going to affect me being able to look after them while my body is getting used to the medication. I have read about the side effects and they are not nice at all. We don't have any family around and no help and I have these worrying thoughts of falling asleep or doing crazy things while looking after my kids.

Any mums here who can help me here by sharing their experience?

Hello!

Im not a mum but until this week i was on citalopram for two years. I remember the side effects being a bit horrible, a poorly stomach mostly, bur they passed really quickly and until recently i found citalopram really helpful. The only issue i had was i was tired all the time.

Thank you for your reply! I am on day 2 now and apart from being sleepy, having a bit of nausea and having some strange muscle pain in my leg it is all okay so far. Thanks again x

I'm on citalopram 40 mg and at first I was little woozy tired but nothing horrible I have a 6 yr old and an 11 yr old I think you will be ok.

Thank you for your comment! I am on day too and I feel sleepy and some other small side effects but otherwise I am okay. Thanks again! x
