Anxiety doesn't give you heart disease. Heart disease is caused by the heart's response to arteries being blocked by cholestoral plaque caused by eating too much saturated fat. Anxiety has never been given as the cause of death on any death certificate ever issued.

Anxiety can cause blood pressure to rise temporarily but the rise is not permanent as with blocked arteries.

I have never heard of anxiety causing diabetes as to do that anxiety would have to affect the working of the pancreas in some way and no medical source has ever suggested this. Many people with diabetes do also have high blood pressure but the one does not cause the other - though they are both often caused by the same thing ie poor diet.

MsGriff, the true answer to your question 'do you get heart disease from anxiety?' is emphatically No. DesiretobeReal has cunningly added another aspect 'bad diet' to the equation which was not the question you asked and has used this to spread alarm which I suggest you ignore.

Of course bad diet equals heart disease, I explained this in my postwhen I said that eating too much saturated fat is a cause of heart disease. That was not the question which was whether anxiety alone causes heart disease (anxiety does not automatically equal bad diet).

So there is no need for you to panic and rush off to see your doctor on this issue because of this alarmist posting.

DesiretobeReal should know the majority of people here can be easily distressed because of the nature of their illness and should not be encouraged to panic by poorly expressed postings.

Food gives you disease. Sugar causes cancer. The air you breath is unhealthy. Water is unclean. Alcohol kills your liver. Smoking kills your lungs. Sitting too much kills you. Exercising too much hurts you.

The point is, everything is bad for you. No one makes it out of here alive. So everyone focuses on the negative because fear based news catches your attention.

Do you best to live healthy. But also enjoy your life.

You woke up today. Be present. Enjoy every moment of what you have today because tomorrow isn't promised to anyone. Don't waste it thinking about what may happen in the future.

My favorite quote (it's from Buddah).....The trouble is....you think you have time.

Take a deep breath and enjoy your day.
