Hello Kristylou. I know what you mean. I first experienced anxiety ( a short lived one) when I was in high school. scared me and I definitely didn't know what it was. It didn't happen again until I was in my mid twenties. even then, It would scare me but it didn't last too long so I just kept silent about it. Then in my thirties it was literally taking over my life. I went to see a doctor thinking I was going to be told I was crazy. With just the few symptoms I relayed to him, he knew what it was. I have been on meds since then. I still get anxiety, the numbness, trembling, shakiness, can't breathe, can't swallow and of course the feeling of walking slow or effort to talk or move. I have been more open about my anxiety and also have been trying to read and listen to stress release sounds. It helps me especially at work. I'm trying to find ways to help me and not rely on more meds. I pray you too will start to feel better :)

Hi jane137 had same anxiety off and on since my teens, had some great years anxiety free and some severe anxiety episodes over the years.but one symptom I had few months ago was the swallowing one ! Never had that before and it scared me as I wasn't eating very much and lost a lot of weight.then i figured it out I was over thinking my swallowing. And I was swallowing to often I was overriding my natural swallowing reflex. Once I realised I tryed not to swallow and my own reflex did it automatically ! Never got it again.

Thank you, I will try to remember that. Yes, once I get that choking feeling I start concentrating on my swallowing... Uuuuggghh!

Hi Kirstylou. I've suffere anxiety - amongst other probs - for years now but in a weird sort of way it can help me @ times. Work is a very high profile/intense/pressured affair & often the anxiety I suffer is akin to an adrenaline rush. So though it is more of a downward spiral, it does have its benefits at times.

Hi finials-boy, yea I get the adrenaline aswell it's awful having anxiety but I suppose we are who we are and it's not going to change we have to just live with it now I guess. I'm trying my best that's all I can do. But it's nice to talk with other people aswell thank you for replying

It's after a "full on" day's work that I feel those anxiety/adrenaline rushes more often. Many times they rust in a seizure. (I'm epileptic following a TBI). But it's good to talk with folk. Take care Kirstylou. 🇮🇪
