Diagnosed with Meniere's but want input from other sufferer's

I was originally diagnoses with vertigo, now the my physician is saying Meniere's Disease. But my brain is real foggy, it's difficult to concentrate, I'm having mobility issues. I've been on prednizone for two days now and it has helped some, but not what I thought and I only have two days left. I'm also taking meclizine and Valium. The last year, I've been complaining about frequent tingles in small parts of my head at different times and places. I'm wondering if I should get a brain scan. My physician wants me to see an ENT for Meniere's Disease, but wondering if anyone is going through what I am at this time. I feel like my head is an egg when I walk and the yoke keeps hitting my skull.

What's your biggest problem that remains unresolved in your mind?

this is a link to the symptoms of B12 deficiency

Have you had a blood test to check your B12 and folate levels. If so please also get hold of the results. The test for B12 is a guide only and will miss 25% of people who have a B12 deficiency (and also pick up 5% who aren't) if used as a single measure - however, most GPs aren't aware of the limitations of the test and it can be very difficult to get a proper diagnosis as a result.

Hello Kcarpenter , My Father has Meniere's Disease , for a true diagnosis i would ask for a MRI scan as this will show the extent or calcification of Bone if any . He was put of Stemitol ( not sure of spelling) but it is a anti sickness drug . His started back in the 1980's and had to stop working, resulted in a number of surgeries to remove the infected bone. then ultimately closure of his actual ear canal and removal of all bone in the Ear. as a result he lost his hearing , but as i say this was a number of years ago and treatments may well have improved. They did at one point try to get his hearing back before they removed everything inside or course. He is 82 now and does not let it interfere too much with his life apart from the dizziness and walking issues , which is to be expected as your balance relies on your ears. He takes pain killers daily, and does suffer with headaches. Other than that he is healthy for his age . Like i said Treatments will have changed as they do , and i hope you get a formal Diagnosis as soon as possible so you know what you are dealing with , Best Wishes Claire

Thank you Clair51. This information is great to know. Do you know if your Dad went to an EMT first? I had a scheduled appointment, but my son recently passed and I canceled, just too much going on. But I notice the days I'm more upset, my unbalance or dizziness is worse. Do you know anything about how your dads symptoms appear? Also, I appreciate you responding, you are the only one that has and I'm so frustrated. Doctor bills cost so much and after paying for my son's expenses, funds are limited. Have a blessed day and thank you again for reaching out.

Hi Kcarpenter, my Fathers presentation of Disease was unusual , as he was deaf in his left Ear from well all his life as far as he could remember, so he accepted it as being hearing loss nothing more, but when he was in his 40s he had what i can only describe as a popping of his ear and lost what looked like puss from his ear ,also was able to hear again , although that was Temporary. So was unusual how his diagnosis came about, he first went to Emergency Room at Hospital and then was referred to see, ENT specialist who arranged the MRI .

If it is at all bearable for you, perhaps keep a diary of how your feeling emotionally and how your physical symptoms are for a couple of weeks, and did your symptoms start whilst you were caring for your son and loss of your son. As it is very Common with severe Anxiety to feel how you are feeling , just trying to find a inexpensive solution for you, also you could try a over the Counter Travel sickness Medication , (double checking with pharmacist if you are on other medication it will not cause problems first) . If the travel sickness medication helps when your not feeling Emotional Distress, then it can be a good indicator that you do have a Inner ear Issue. If Emotional Distress and the Physical Presentation do not Coincide, then you will sadly have to seek Medical help. Just Putting this Idea out there to You , as a Cost effective measure , before you have to pay for more treatment.

So sorry to learn of the Passing of Your Son , My Sincere Condolences and prayers to you xxx
