Major Anxiety

I just found this page today...I'm going to give it a try. I know I've battled with Anxiety my whole life but the last year it has been getting way worse. I've never went to a dr about it but have learned ways to get through it. It has worked until now. The last few months have been great in my life ( set a wedding date and bought a house)but I've just finally hit my breaking point with how the Anxiety is making me feel. Sorry I'm going to bounce around a lot. I don't even know where to start. I have always been a very patient person but the last few years I have absolutely zero patience. I feel so bad for my son....I blow my lid over the littlest stuff and am just not letting him be a kid. And my fiancé does what he can and is very understanding but very busy with his buisness and other work so I feel I'm bugging him or putting my problems on him when he has so much to deal with already. I've been at my job over 3 years now and loved it until last year. I dread going everyday...and some days my anxiety is so bad I will just cry multiple times a day at work. Some days it's even worse, like today, that I can't even make it. I've called in a lot this year because of it, always make up a diff excuse for them though. Today I finally realized I need to see a dr. My one problem is no insurance. I'll pay for a dr visit but I'm just wondering if anyone knows if they would prescribe me something in a first visit?? I don't want to keep going back but at this point will pay anything to feel normal and happy again! I'm completely miserable right now and just want to seclude myself... I really only talk to and hang out with my son and fiancé because I get such bad anxiety even thinking about doing my things with other people, even my close family like my mom and sisters

Usually when you go see a psychiatrist and you explain your issues and concerns they will give you medication the same day.

Hi,

Well done you on making the decision to see a doctor. Most doctors will need a history of your struggles to cope without medication before prescribing anything to help. After you have outlined your history, you can ask for something to address your anxiety. The best treatment plan involves medication and some psychotherapy together. Medication can address the symptoms while talking therapy addresses what causes the anxiety which you need to get control of.

A tip here is to ask for a long appointment and write some notes (give a copy to the doctor for reference).

MedlinePlus is an excellent resource for starting the doctor-patient conversation

There is no need to cope by yourself. There are lots of resources available to help. By all means, see your doctor and/or get a referral to a psychiatrist. Medications can certainly help with the symptoms, and counselling helps with the issues. Don't delay - the sooner you address it, the sooner you will start to feel better. Blessings!

Anxiety will always make everything seem harder and drain you but good on you for seeking some help. Meds will help relieve some symptoms but counselling will help you long term to work through all your issues. Not sure how your healthcare works in US x
