I took this online test today to see my anxiety level. I would say this is spot on, but let me tell you what made me take this test:
I was laying on m bed next to my son who was napping. I was laughing/smiling at a video I was watching when I realized that my mouth was twitching. I was a little alarmed, so I put my phone down and relaxed for a second. I started smiling again and in less than ten seconds my muscles around my mouth were noticeably twitching. I freaked out. I then went to the bathroom to look in the mirror while I made different faces, only for my mouth to twitch in almost every position. This has NEVER happened to me before. I then proceeded to Froogle (Freaking out while Googling) and I almost gave myself a damn stroke (I knew better than to do this!!) when I saw "TUMOR, ALS" as possibilities. I then saw that it could be caused from severe anxiety and that tremors throughout the entire body could be possible.
I'd like to think that because I always clamp my mouth shut and grind my teeth all the time, that maybe my muscles are just exhausted? Lately I've felt very shaky/weak all over and assumed it was just from the mass amount of stress I'm dealing with right now. I just want to know if anyone else has ever had this issue!! I'm on the brink of taking myself to the hospital just to be sure..

Not trying to freak you out but I think that maybe you should Go to the doctor and just run it by him. It could be nothing but you never know and its better to be safe than sorry. I knew two friends and my uncle that had that and it ended up being some bell's pasly and they had to do some therapy. One was better with in 1 week and the other it took a yr. But then again maybe it is anxiety!
I was super scared of that, but it seems to only really happen now if I'm thinking about it. If I'm playing with my son or I'm busy, it doesn't happen. After I posted this I did some deep breathing and stretched, and if didn't happen anywhere near as bad after I tried my mouth expressions haha. If it keeps happening I'll go to the ER. My doctor here doesn't believe in anxiety. Seriously.
Hi don't worry it sounds like anxiety I have had my mouth twitch my eye used to twitch to .its caused by sensitive muscles and adrenaline and as you know when we are anxious we home in on every little ache and pain.you will be fine.
Don't worry about it. I get twitches at the side of my eye and occasionally in my chin. My Mum and sisters all get twitchy chins as well. One of my sisters has it really bad, she was playing with her kids one day and every time they passed a balloon in front of her face her chin twitched. We call it the jumpy chin. She did some research on it and found out the name of the condition (She worked in the field of DNA research, so knew where to go to find go information). She put a video of her chin on Facebook so we could all see it.
I can see my chin jumping/twitching when it happens but when it affects my eye I can feel the muscle twitching, but can't see any movement when I look in the mirror.
It is great that we have all this information on the internet that we can view, but at the same time it can cause worry and concern because not all the information out there is true. So please don't worry and it you do feel really worried about it go see your doctor, they will be able to advise you.
When we were all younger and at home we had one night when we were at dinner, Mum's chin started twitching and it set my sister off. That was so funny.
I just get worried that when my eye muscle feels like it is twitching that someone might think that I am winking at them. That could get very embarrassing.
I grind my teeth and have a guard I have to wear at night because I have stress fractures in my teeth.
Can I just say that it was great that you were smiling and laughing. Could be that if you are stressed all the time that maybe you were just in a really relaxed place and your muscles were just getting rid of a bit of tension.
That makes me feel so much better. I've freaked myself about it all day now, but I'm relieved that other people experience this. It was just so strange to smile and have my mouth twitch so much. Your sister's twitchy chin brings me great relief!
Yes, I have had muscles around my mouth twitch, and muscles twitches all over my body as well and they are all from anxiety. It's a very common symptom.
Well I'm glad that it is getting better. And I'm glad to know this about all the twitching in the event I ever experience it, I know now that it could be caused by anxiety. Hope you feel better.
I had the exact same thing today and it's purely because at the minute I don't smile for long periods of time. It takes a lot of muscles to smile and any muscle if not exercised regularly starts to spasm big hugs xx
