So it's been a week since i've been falling asleep around 5am, basically when i try to get to bed, when i'm lying down, my heart suddendly skips a beat. It happened twice yesterday night. I can't sleep i'm so stressed. I've had an
electrocardiogram but i don't think it helps much. The doc said my heart's beating was good but the palipations happens at random times.. Also i have an eating disorder, and had serious anxiety for around 1 to 2 months after i fainted. Sometimes my chest hurts a lot. I've been so worried nowadays, i'm only 17 and i don't understand why i'm having those symptoms. I'm so scared, my family doesn't understand, they think it's all in my head and they don't offer me the mental support i need to get through those situation. I'm so scared of dying.. Every night, the same thing happens, i can't take it anymore.. I'm gonna go see a
cardiologist asap, even tho my mother doesn't want me too. I told my aunt and my grandmother and they totally support me, i'm so glad. Also sometimes, as i'm lying down, my hearts starts to beat really fast. It scares me so much.. Now it's 10pm and i know this is going to be a long night..

Heart palpitations are usually not a cause for heart disease or any heart issues. You're 17 years old, 99% chance there's nothing wrong with you. What's happening is that your mind is thinking that there is a danger, when there really isn't. Heart palpitations are symptoms of anxiety. I used to get them all the time, until I learned how to calm myself down. No sense in going to a cardiologist he's going to tell you the same thing I'm telling you. A normal functioning healthy heart gets skipped beats. Just like having indigestion or having a hiccup. I know its a scary feeling. Also might I add that an electrocardiogram does a scan of your heart. Its not meant to "fix" anything in your heart. If the doctor said you're fine, then you need to trust them, they're the experts. Good luck.
Hi Ananas, I think you should see a cardiologist. The fact that you said you have an eating disorder and fainted prompts me to think it could have something to do with your heart skipping beats. Of course, having anxiety doesn't help matters. Your electrolytes can be off causing the fast HR. Does your family even know about the ED? I'm glad your aunt and grandmother support you. You need support around you right now. I hope you are getting help for the ED as well. Hopefully you fell asleep since you posted 2 hrs ago. Sleep well Ananas. We are here x
Thanks for taking the time to answer, i'm still not sleeping, it's 3am but i might try to fall asleep even though i'm scared.. My family knows about the ED, my mother brought me there. I'll ask my cardiologist if i might need an Holter to test my heart beat and stuff. There's been so much going on lately, i'm really tired and they're lots of fights in my family and it doesn't help my condition.. I'm so happy i get to meet the cardiologist tomorrow, hope it'll be usefull.. Anyway thanks so much for your suppirt, i'll try my best to sleep know.. fingers crossed..
Wow Ananas, that's great. I'm so glad for you. You just needed that reassurance from the doctor. That was the best thing to do, get it checked out. Now you can get on with having some fun. x
I actually worry a lot. Even though i try my best not to. I still have palipations and i'm terrified. I want to stop them but i don't know how so i'll probably go seek advice from my therapists. Last night i had a lot of them and because of them i coudl'nt sleep until 6 am. Hope this night will be better, fingers crossed...
Hi Ananas. I'm not sure if you have something physically wrong with your heart or if it's anxiety, I hope you get it straightened out medically. There's a lot of physical symptoms that come from just having anxiety and they are scary. i developed dizziness last year and couldn't even believe it when my bloodwork came out normal so i obsessively went to different doctors doing all sorts of tests/bloodwork but finally in the end just had to believe my psychiatrist- that it's anxiety. I've had anxiety my whole life- over 4 decades- so i couldn't understand why my body in the past year, would produce a new anxiety symptom but that's how it is i guess. i'm falling asleep about 6 a.m. these days , even 7. It definitely is awful. Actually its' been hard to find others who can relate to insomnia this severe, even on an anxiety forum. Hopefully you have ways to distract yourself from the fearful thoughts- i watch comedy, play scrabble and other games online and call a helpline sometimes if it gets really bad. It is good to have the support of people on this website and know others are suffering similarly, however I live alone and wish for someone to talk to also like a phone support. I offer this esp to those who are up all night like me. Much harder to distract oneself from anxiety at night, than the day. I pray you get better
