As you can guess from my name I am a motorbiker.. I love riding, it clears my mind. However after my crash whenever I get on the roads I just freeze. I took my bike out for a spin, got onto a main road and had to turn off, I could'nt do it. Now I was never a dangerous rider but I was "fearless" without sounding stupid, can't think of a better word for it. I loved speed. Nowadays I am scared to go above 10mph. I love riding and I can't wait to get back on the roads but something is stopping me and I can't put my finger on it. Doctors have said I more than likely have PTSD and Anxiety were just waiting for it to be definite. Has anyone else had something like this and how did you get through it.
I Keep Freezing...: As you can guess from my... - Anxiety Support
I Keep Freezing...
To be honest you are going to freeze, it's like someone being afraid of crossing a road after being knocked down, it's understandable. All you can do is try and get back on the horse as they say.
Have a couple of mates with bikes, would love one myself but have bad neck and shoulder !!.
I usually get over thee types of things pretty quickly though which is why I don't think this is like me.
I love riding but here in London as my accident has now shown is theres so many drivers that forget we exist. Sorry to hear about your injury.
London !!! do you watch YouTube and Barron Von Grumble ??.
It's a terrible places to have an accident and real busy too. I wouldn't dare ride a bike there, gets squashed under a lorry in Soho !!.
Is there no group of people who are in the same boat ?
Baron Von Grumble... the man... the legend! Love the guys vids, he's got a similar sense of humour to me.
As a matter of fact been speaking to a rider on a forum who's actually recently been through something similar albeit not as bad and he's talking me through what he did. Sounds like the therapy my GP has booked me in for will be a good thing.
I commute through Soho on a daily basis for work... well used to ha! On average each day at least 1 taxi will pull out on you... 1 pedestrian would run in front of you and 1 cyclist would swerve in front of you... sure makes you check your brakes each morning!!
Yeah he has my sense of humour too, fucking stupid !!!.
Terrible place these days, lived in London, west Kensington for 4 years, years ago. Now I'm back up north like !!
Went back 2 year's ago, what a difference, expensive and English doesn't seem to be spoken there much !!
You should start your own group up of injured bikers who want to escape the prison of the injured mind and unleash fury upon the road !
Yeah London is a totally different place nowadays! As you say expensive and you need a translator sometimes to understand whats being said! I travel from Hertfordshire to London for work and its amazing seeing London everyday and how its changed since my childhood. Although in someplace it hasn't changed for the better..
I like the idea of starting a group up for injured bikers! May just do that!
You deffo need to talk to other bikers about your issues, think it's a biker mind set and understanding that's required here.
Your conscious mind wants to ride a bike like the past but your subconscious us like , fuck off you idiot !! And then it starts pressing the fear button to stop ya. Battle of will's I'm afraid, get it told
Too right! I think having PTSD and Anxiety ain't helping but hey thats why were here aye! Kick this up the arse and start enjoying life like we all want to! Cheers mate I appreciate the chat
