I was on Prozac with xanax as needed for about a year after a series of health anxiety related panic attacks. I came off of them when I got pregnant but I was to the point of weaning myself off of them anyway.

Did they help you out and get over the panic disorder stuff??

I'm prescribed .25mg klonopin in the morning and .25mg before bed. It helps keep me leveled out during the day

sorry to hear that Sam, I'm a mental health nurse, and I really think you should go see your gp for advice, there is no magic pill unfortunately and medication and therapy together are the best treatment, along with support from your friends and family.

Yes I've been to my gp and am taking meds now.

I just wanted to hear some positive thoughts from people.

Hi Sam, I took sertraline for about a year. They worked well for me. I took half a tablet the first week then the whole one. They helped my anxiety and got me through a very difficult time.

Thanks for the reply Angep.

What were your anxiety symptoms???

Hi Sam, I often felt on the verge of a panic attack,I always felt anxious unless I distracted myself. I didn't sleep well, couldn't eat much. Cried a lot!! I don't take any medication for anxiety now. I've got a lot going on with my health but am managing it through meditation, talking, excercise and diet!! I take medication for my illness at the moment which can have very bad side effects but I'm focusing on the positive and hope they will help me.it takes time and we all react differently to medication. I think you have to go with your gut feeling!! It's good to get advice from people but make up your own mind. I did the same as you and asked for positive feed back about another medication I'm going to start soon. I researched it myself and found. The forums I looked on were mostly negative about the drugs which frightened me then!! But I've decided to give it a go and if it don't like it or if it affects my quality of life then I shall stop it. If it was someone close to you that you loved and they needed some advice about medication think about what would you say to them? I hope this helps 🙂

The Rescue Remedy in either drop form or spray is best to use as the sweets gums etc., there is a warning on them that taking too many can have a laxative effect so you can't just keep sucking them all day. This "laxative effect" does not happen with the liquids and can be used 4 drops at a time or one spray on the tongue as often as required.

I find it helpful. Hope you do too.

They also do Rescue Remedy "melts" that are tiny pills with the actual liquid in them but they work out about 4 times the price of either the spray or the dropper because you just get a small amount in the pack and they work exactly the same as the spray and drops. I find them best as I said above.

Helpful hint Boots always have them on offer as 3 for the price of 2 so try to avail of that if you have a Boots card you get points too.

targetten, totally agree that meds and therapy go hand in hand for best results.

Yes, the meds did help. I was also in therapy. The improvement from the meds happened gradually (I was on a low dose), and it was a matter of realizing after a time that I was "better". I used the xanax quite a bit in the beginning to help with panicky times. I have been on Prozac twice in my life now and I'm actually considering starting up again.

Hang in there in the beginning. It does take time for it to reach therapeutic levels and sometimes your dose may need to be adjusted. I remember that it seemed like it wasn't helping and then it was. Just give it time.

You are not alone.

Hello Sam001

You have come to the right place for advice it simply helps to read what people have to say as you are not the only one and can feel less alone. Keep in touch with you G.P. They should keep monitoring your dose. It can take a little for things to settle and find the right dose etc you just need to let your body tell you which dose feels right at the time I think. I've been on 40mg a day of fluxitine for quite some time and received one to one therapy. I am now on the list for group therapy for depression. The main thing is sounds like on your the right track. It's a marathon not a sprint. I've learnt the hard way over many years of aniexty and depression the more time and effort you can try and put in to helping yourself I truly believe the outcome will be much more positive. Take Care and Big hugs 🤗 xx
